Noriko goes to check on Kitty after the kerfluffle on the forums over the Danger Room and Kitty ends up showing her armor.

When Noriko checked in on the journals again, she frowned when she noticed Professor Xavier's reply on Santo's post. She really didn't like it, much as she could see why Santo would want it that badly. She just hoped that he didn't break anything in the room playing freaking sports.

But given how vehement Kitty had been about this not happening, she was concerned about how she might be taking this. Since the other girl wasn't in her room, Noriko headed to the next most likely place - her lab - and knocked on the door. "Hey, it's Nori," she called out after knocking.

At her workbench, Kitty cringed a little. Not that anyone could see her - it was just an ingrained reaction, especially since Illyana and Peter had already approached about what had happened on the journals. Okay. Peter had sort of stumbled his way into the situation, but still.

With a sigh, she leaned over and flopped her forehead onto her arm. Not really to be dramatic but because she literally did not want to be seen by anyone. It was kind of like an ostrich with their head in the sand situation. "Dragon, let Nori in." A moment later, the door lock disengaged.

"Hey," Noriko greeted her as she walked in, looking about as casual as her visit was not. "You okay?" She was nothing if not blunt.

Kitty took a deep breath, letting her shoulders rise, then fall. She grabbed one of the molecules on her display, turned it, then swiped it to the side before glancing over her shoulder at Noriko. "Sort of not really. I think I'll be fine if I never have to leave this room again."

"Yeah, I'd have to take issue with that," Noriko remarked, with her best deadpan. "Make an exception for JVX, at least."

Kitty made a face and turned on her stool to face the older girl. "That was humiliating. And I mean, I can see how it's like, hard for people who have physical mutations like that, and I totally insulted them, and wasn't even gentle about it."

"Santo's kinda hard to... apprehend?" Noriko tried, but she wasn't sure that was the right word in English. "He makes it hard to see past his behavior." Better. "I can see why you wouldn't want the Danger Room to be used for sports, I'm not into it either. So you flew off the handle - it happens to all of us."

"You don't," Kitty frowned. "You're...calm, and so sure of yourself, and a great leader."

Noriko bit back the sarcastic, 'Right' that she instinctively wanted to go with. They trusted her, and she'd respect that. "Thanks. But you clearly didn't see me back when Scott told me that I wouldn't be on his team after all." So her flying off the handle had been more internal than anything else, but still. Emotional reaction, check.

Kitty scrunched up her face again, but this time in sympathy. Then she took a deep breath and sighed. "I promise I won't stay in here forever. I mean, maybe for awhile, because I really need to work out the details on the new team body armor. Whiiiich I didn't tell you about ugh, I meant to tell you about and my brain has been. You know. Everywhere."

"You're working on body armor?" Noriko asked with raised eyebrows. Definitely interesting.

"Well. That's a simplification. Mostly, I'm working on a system of armor using new metamaterials that can be both nanometers thin and also extremely durable and resilient. Something that can resist bullets but not restrict movement. Something that can resist extreme heat or cold and maybe do a few other things besides. I mean, the end goal is to develop suits for certain mutants that need protection but still need a way to use their abilities without damaging their clothing. Like, for instance, the speedsters having something that's virtually frictionless but durable enough to stand up to high speeds.

"Right now, I'm just focused on creating something general for everyone. Especially, I'm looking at something the female members of the team can wear that won't restrict their movements or rub in all the wrong places, like current body armor tends to do," Kitty twitched a quick, knowing look at Noriko.

"I'll trust your word on that," Noriko stated simply, because she'd never tried full body armor, or researched them. The kevlar vests they had were simple enough. "All of that, actually," she added, because she would. This was Kitty. "You talked to Scott about it?"

"Yeaah," Kitty made a face and frowned at Noriko. "Sorry. I should have talked to you first. Peter suggested I talk to Scott and it was just... you know, I figure their team will be the first to test them. Do you want to see the prototype? Actually, prototypes, plural, since I just had SI produce the latest version."

"No, that makes sense," Noriko assured her, "and yeah, I'd love to." She was already looking around in case they were lying in plain view. "So Stark helped?"

"He helped by giving me an internship with SI and footing the bill for the prototypes and experimentation," Kitty smiled, trotting over to a couple of aluminum cases on a bench in the corner. "I promised that he can use anything I come up with."

Flipping the latches on the top case, she lifted the lid, pulling out a full body suit, sans boots. "This is the female model," which looked like it would offer more room in the hips and chest than the one beneath it, which Kitty pulled out next. She lay both out side by side, and it was clear that the male model was a bit thinner in material and sleeker in look. "I'm still working on the material and how it protects, so the guy's uniform is more updated. Still working out the kinks. And. Obviously. I don't have a clue what they should look like yet. I just thought plain black was safe for the prototypes."

Noriko walked over and reached out to pick up a sleeve of the male model and get a feel for the material. "Yeah, if you ask me, plain black is safe, full stop. How protective are they?"

"In terms of ammunition, they'll stop the most popular caliber bullets from penetrating, and will redistribute some of the shock, but it'll still leave a heck of a bruise. Can't get around that with the materials I have available. They're supposed to regulate temperature too, so we don't have to, you know, put on jackets or cut the sleeves off in extreme temps. That won't keep you safe in a blizzard, since your head's exposed, but it's a start," Kitty reported.

"Definitely," Noriko agreed, her tone plainly approving. She unlatched one of her gauntlets and slid it off to be able to properly touch the material. It seemed flexible enough, and it certainly wasn't as thick as she would have expected. "This is amazing. When do you think you'll have something field-ready?"

"I guess you could say these two are now," Kitty admitted. "I'm just tinkering with the final touches. Then, uhm, someone will have to pay for the actual production for the team, since the production costs by SI were just for the prototypes. Probably Xavier?"

"Scott and I can talk to him," Noriko nodded. Hopefully he would agree to it; it still puzzled her, how much money he was spending on everything, without expecting anything in return. But the other shoe was still not dropping, here.

Kitty nodded. "So you think all-black? Really? No design or logo or anything?"

"I... don't know," Noriko admitted after a beat. "I think Scott mentioned that he wanted us to be easy to identify, so there should probably be something. It's just - really not my area of expertise. Wasn't he talking to Daniels about that?"

The younger girl blinked, trying to put a face to a name. "Daniels?"

"Yeah," Noriko frowned as she tried to remember her first name. "Graduated, English, black? You know the one?"

Kitty blinked, and then her face lit up. "Oh! The fashion girl! The one who's all hands off!"

"Her," Noriko confirmed with a nod. "I think Scott said something about her once. I'll ask him."

"Oh good. I'm pretty sure she's never even looked at me," Kitty grinned. She was well aware of her nerd status. Sometimes she wondered why Illyana even bothered with her.

Noriko frowned curiously. "Would you want her to look at you?" Everything about her screamed bitch queen. There was probably more to her than that, since Scott liked her, but Noriko still didn't feel the need for Daniels's attention.

"Maybe not," Judging by the look on Noriko's face. "But if she has a design and Scott and you agree, then I use it on the armor."

"Sure," Noriko moved past the issue of Daniels. "We'll have a design pow-wow," she added in her usual wryly humorous tone. "My dream come true."

Kitty stuck her tongue out but her eyes twinkled in amusement. She took the armor, carefully folding and stowing it back into the locked containers. "Anyway, design or not, we should be able to have the team outfitted in a couple of months."

"That's awesome," Noriko stated honestly - she didn't often use words like awesome, but it was. "I'll touch base with Scott and we can go talk to the headmasters about it when you're ready."

Kitty gave her a thumbs up, then let her smile dim as she remembered why Noriko was there in the first place. "Thanks. For checking in."

Noriko gave her a quirk of a smile. "You're part of the team." And, well. She liked Kitty. "Let me know if you wanna blow some steam in the Danger Room."

The younger girl offered a firm nod. "Will do."

Illyana would like to point out that she can't figure out why Kitty would bother with HER, so they're more than even. :)

Since Alisha and Scott aren't really talking, direct communication is probably hard, but he can totally forward Alisha's information to anything to anyone who needs it.
