Harry and Alice celebrate his birthday, a little belatedly. It involves a day at the racetrack with his Veyron, talk of future plans, and predictably, a lot of offscreen sex.

The sun might have been shining, but Alice didn't expect their day at the track to feel any kind of warm. So while she'd had to go for a minidress that would work with the thigh boots Harry loved so much (they were celebrating his birthday, after all), her black leggings were thicker than she usually went for and she was wearing two scarves and a long olive cardigan to go with her usual leather jacket. She stepped out of the mansion right on time, smiling at the mild bite of the chill, the bag he'd offered her slung on her shoulder.

And then came the purr of an engine, and her smile turned into a grin as the Veyron fbg drove over to stop right by the mansion front steps.

Seriously. That car. She climbed down the steps, grinning as Harry got out. That car, and him behind its wheel - finally. "I'll never get over how gorgeous it is, seriously."

"I'm gonna pretend you're talking about me--even though I entirely agree." Harry strolled towards her, leaving the door open behind him. He was dressed for the weather in a stylish coat and boots, and underneath, one of his trademark tailored waistcoats, of course. He knew how she loved them.

He went directly to her, put his arms around her waist, lifted her up, and settled her on the hood of the car, edging between her knees and grinning. "There. Now it's even better."

"Well, hello," she was laughing as she greeted him, closing her knees on either side of his waist before leaning for a long, drawn-out kiss, fingers hooked on the opening of his coat's pockets. "I'll probably never get over that, either," she assured him when she broke the kiss, smiling. How easy it was for him to move her about, the incredible strength in his deceptive frame.

"That's what I like to hear." He leaned in and kissed her again, one hand on her thigh--mmm, that skirt was nice. Then he pulled back just far enough to say, "If I bored you, I'd never get over it."

She laughed again, hands sliding inside his coat to find his waist; she hadn't put gloves on yet, and heat was very welcome. Just like the heat of his hand seeping through her leggings to her thigh. "Neither would I. Please keep being highly entertaining." She couldn't even pretend to be serious as she spoke, though, eyes twinkling too warmly for that. "So. Present now or later?"

"Oh, god, now please." Harry smirked and kissed her again quickly. Her mouth was just right there. How could he help himself?

Alice's chuckle was lost to the renewed kiss - but only temporarily, as it sounded again once they broke apart. "Then I suggest leaving me a second to breathe," she did not, at all complain, smiling bright before she turned to open her (super cute) bag and pull out a Faliero Sarti gift box she handed to him. God, she hoped he would like it. All of it. But mostly the scarf, which was the main attraction, really, and what she was most unsure about. But it was so damn soft, how could anybody not like it, never mind someone whose hedonism rivaled hers.

Harry grinned at the box, but it just got bigger when he reached inside and felt the delicate cashmere. "Oh, Alice," he said like her name meant 'honey' or 'baby' or some other ridiculously sweet term of endearment. He pulled the scarf out and immediately lifted it to his face, closing his eyes briefly. "If you were anyone else I'd be worried about showing just how hot this is but..."

He glanced down as something rustled in the folds still in the box, then reached down for it.

Alice smiled at his first reaction, bright with relief - definitely the response she'd been hoping for. And him calling it hot - that was seriously everything she could've hoped for. Then the tickets caught his attention, and her smile sharpened into a smirk. "I figured celebrating our birthdays late wasn't the only tradition we ought to set up."

He pulled them out and shook his head, grinning. It wasn't his usual, though--it was genuine. Honestly... he couldn't remember ever getting a gift that was so very him before.

Then again, he hardly ever got gifts that didn't come from his father's assistants or himself so. Poor little rich boy, just tell her thanks, Jesus.

"This is perfect. You're perfect." He tucked the tickets neatly into the box again, then leaned forward to kiss her one more time. Hand back on her thigh. "Thank you."

"You're welcome," she told him against his lips, managing to stop smiling long enough to kiss him again, as she took the scarf from him. Of course she wanted to see it on him, so she broke the kiss to fold it in two and wrap it around his neck, sliding the ends into the loop to secure it there. God, she loved the feel of it, but it wasn't her neck it was wrapped around, and she grinned at him. "How does it feel?"

"Amazing," Harry said, shifting his head a little to let more of it brush against his skin. The image of his father the other day still haunted him; he pushed it away in favor of the moment. A beautiful, funny girl with her long legs wrapped around him, a soft swell of cashmere against his skin, the cold air in his lungs.

The moment was brilliant. His smile was genuine, a kind of gratefulness in his eyes that was rare, for him. He felt it, and the vulnerability of it, and so of course had to add, "It'd feel even better around my wrists, I'm betting." There, that brought back the smirk.

Alice was so glad to have walked into that scarf shop back in Rome, now, if only for that look in his eyes. It made something in her lungs tighten warmly, until it was released in a chuckle with his next words. "Well, we'll have to find out," she grinned, smoothing her hands down his chest until they found his gorgeous hips, and she pulled herself closer for another kiss. Around his wrists, around hers - honestly, both would be the best option, if you asked her.

He stayed like that for a moment, enjoying the way her lips sliding against his, the feeling of her leg through her clothes, all of her just felt good. Then he set the box on the hood of the car and lifted her off of it, spun, and put her on her feet. "Let's go. Before I forget where I am and try to jump you on the hood of the car in full view of the Professor's office."

"Raincheck on the hood thing, though," Alice told him with a grin, rearranging her bag on her shoulder. She turned to get to the passenger side of the car - and she was going to stop smiling any moment. No, really. But he'd liked the scarf, she was turned on, and they were about to take a ride in the Veyron.

Life was fucking good.

Harry had never driven on a track--not one like this, anyhow. They'd had the most fucking fabulous drive up to Seneca lake, and now here they were at the Glen and... Christ. Superstrength definitely had its perks, and one of them was the ability to manage the almost three-and-a-half-mile course at top speeds without breaking a sweat.

Anyone who said driving wasn't a sport had never driven, as far as Harry was concerned.

He finished off a lap and slowed, tugging over to the side of the track. Then looked at Alice, his face flushed, his breathing quickened, eyes and smile bright. "Your turn?"

Alice had been having a blast being a passenger while Harry pushed the Veyron as fast as it would go - and that was seriously fast, obviously. Adrenaline was flooding her system in the best of ways by the time his offer took her by surprise, utterly and completely.

"Are you kidding? I don't know how to drive like that." And she did not want to risk damaging this beauty by pushing it harder than she could handle.

"Well, you don't have to drive it that fast?" Harry grinned. "Come on, you know you wanna get your hands on it."

"Well, when you put it that way," Alice grinned right back, because she couldn't help it. But first, there was something else she wanted to get her hands on, and she leaned over, hand hooking on the back of Harry's neck to pull him into a long, definitely heated kiss. What could she say, the way he'd driven had gotten her all worked up, and she wanted to kiss him with that heat inside her, before her more moderate driving might bring it back down to the usual simmer of just being around him.

Harry's heartbeat still hadn't gone back to normal either, so he was just as heated. He reached for her, resting a hand on her thigh and feeling upwards. That weird sense of gratefulness swept through him again.

She was exactly what he needed.

He kissed her deeply, then lingered when he closed it off to let their lips rub together. He nipped at her lower one, then turned his head and went in for another one, full on.

Alice opened up to it fully, without hesitation or reservation. Her nails scratched lightly at the back of his scalp and she poured a happy moan into that kiss with the slide of his hand on her leg. God, she wanted him. Right here, right now.

Of course, if she'd learned anything with him, it was the joys of anticipation. So she forced herself to pull back, breathing short, pupils blown, her hand shifting to his shoulder to stop him from chasing after her mouth. Much as she wanted him to. She smiled at him, happy and turned on, then turned to unbuckle her seat belt. "Come on," she told him, with another bright smile, the sort that shone just as brightly in her eyes, before she got out of the car to trade places with him.

It left Harry panting and laughing quietly. He hopped out onto the track, adjusted his pants (they were suddenly a little tight in front), and as he passed Alice in front of the car, reached back to land a playful smack on her ass. Then smirked over his shoulder.

Alice gave him a grin, resisted the urge to reach back, grab a hold of him and bend him over the hood of the gorgeous car, then took his place behind the wheel. A little seat adjustment later, she was buckling in and turning the ignition, sighing happily when the engine purred to life. She loved her Mini, don't get her wrong, but this was a whole new level of awesome, as far as cars went.

"Any advice?" she asked as she pressed the accelerator, moving the car back to the middle of the track. "I've never driven a sports car before."

"Just let it purr for you," Harry suggested, sliding down into the leather seat comfortably beneath the seatbelt. "She'll tell you what she needs."

Alice had to chuckle at how much like sex he was making it sound - utterly unsurprising, and very appropriate. "Alright," she said under her breath as she sped up. It was crazy how much room there was to drive, so that it was all too easy to keep a relaxed-looking posture as she did so, speeding nicely along the straight they were on before braking slightly to take the turn. Ugh, not that smooth, but it had been a while since she'd driven stick, she was going to blame it on that.

"Nice clutch work," Harry commented. He was watching her, not the road, "You look divine right now."

It was impossible not to be aware of it, the weight of his gaze and the direction his face was turned in her peripheral vision. A year ago, it would have made her self-conscious. Today, though, that was mostly drowned out in a steady desire to be good enough, to be worth that attention; an entirely more positive reaction. Although not encouraging the flirting, for once, sounded like a plan. She would rather focus on the driving, especially at this speed.

"Yeah? My stepdad taught me - and he'd be cringing already," she answered easily. It wasn't often that she talked about her actual family, and she was surprised to realize that the thought of Frank didn't bring with it the same old resentment as usual. She took the next turn a little better, gradually getting to know the way the car responded.

"You just need to get warmed up a little, if it's been awhile." Harry smirked. It was hard to make it not sound like sex, honestly... but that could've been just Alice's presence. It did that to him. Thank god.

That actually would have sounded less like sex to Alice, if it wasn't for his tone. But there he went, and... yeah. It was difficult not to think about sex around him, anyway. "Insert the obligatory 'manual' joke," she remarked quietly, amused but still definitely focused on the track and the car. This took a lot more concentration than driving down the street, and she loved it.

Harry loved that feeling, too, so he stopped speaking and let her have the moment. Still watching, but also flicking his gaze to the road or the speedometer or his mirrors once in a while. She was really getting the hang of it, now...

"She grips so nicely," she stated quietly, after taking a sharper, faster turn than she had previously dared. She wasn't driving anywhere near as fast as Harry had, but she liked her speed, and the way the car felt now that she was really getting to know her.

"Mmm," Harry hummed happily. He ran his gaze up and down her again, utterly at ease even as she accelerated. "Thank you for noticing."

That made her smile brightly, for no real reason other than, probably, the sound of the engine as she pushed it a little harder, and she directed that smile at Harry for a brief moment, there and then looking back at the track immediately. Taking another corner, hitting the brakes a little and holding the line, counter-steering into the straight and speeding up even more; wasn't that what straights were for? She didn't even realize that she was still smiling, but she definitely was.

Harry was an admitted control freak, but he found he didn't mind so much, right then. It surprised him a little, but he was actually enjoying watching her feel things out, learn the clutch and the wheel, work the brake and accelerator with increasing confidence. He sat back into the leather seat comfortably, watching and smiling slightly.

He was sort of glad now wasn't the time to distract her with talk. He didn't know what he might feel like saying, if it was.

Alice just kept on driving for a little while, completing a lap but showing no sign of wanting to stop just yet. She was just getting started knowing the car, and how to take her around the racetrack. It showed in the way she took the corners this time around, clearly having learned from the first time around. "How am I doing?" she asked after a little while, glancing at Harry for a split second with another bright smile.

God, he was still watching her, and for some reason that was... really hot.

"Great," Harry said sincerely. "I can't decide if I want to let you do this all day, or if I need to get you back to that hotel about five minutes ago. That great."

"Yeah, that about sums it up - when I was in the passenger seat," Alice confirmed with another smile, and a brief bite of her teeth on her bottom lip.

Harry smirked. "It's so nice that we have so many common interests. Fast cars. Pretty clothes. Screwing each other..."

Alice laughed. "I don't think it's the speed." She focused on the next corner, wanting to be sure she took it right, before she went on. "More like the danger, and the control? Or maybe that's what the speed is always about, I don't know." She'd never thought about it before, never even really knew this about herself before. It wasn't like she'd ever been on a racetrack before, after all.

"Faster is more dangerous," Harry confirmed, eying her with as much respect as desire, now. "And therefore, more satisfying when it comes to control.

"I like things turned up to eleven. Anything that feels more, I'm in." To excess, more often than not, but what was it gonna do--kill him? Harry smirked. "You feel me."

"Well," Alice kept her eyes on the track, but she couldn't help but keep smiling as they talked, given what they were talking about. Cars, sex, life. All of it. "Anything that feels, I'm in." And she certainly didn't turn down anything turned up to eleven, on the contrary.

And this, this was a new sensation. Pushing a car that fast, the weight of Harry's gaze, the way the car responded to her, the thrill of it at the base of her spine. She relished it all.

Harry smiled and fingered the scarf around his neck, imagining that yes, yes it would get some very interesting use tonight. He was just full of ideas, of a sudden.

* * *

It turned out, Alice was beginning to suspect, that she wouldn't turn down anything turned up to twelve, either. She'd caught her breath, but more importantly, she'd come back from - wherever it was that had just taken her. She was drinking from a glass of water, her back to the headboard (what a wonderful headboard), the bedsheet pulled up to her chest. Talk about feeling.

She watched Harry walk back into the room with whatever snack he'd gone to fetch and had to smile, if only at the sight of him. If she hadn't just been so thoroughly screwed, just looking at him would have gotten her going again. She stretched sideways to put the glass back on the bedside table, so all of her focus could be on him when he reached the bed.

One long, happy kiss later, she nibbled on a piece of pear (fruit salad was the perfect snack just then) and told him, a propos of nothing, "So I'm gonna come out as a mutant. But not as me, obviously."

Harry stole a piece of orange as she spoke, but once it was swallowed grinned and said, "Really?" He sat straighter, legs crossed beneath him lotus-style, back against a pillow and the (surprisingly strong--good thing, too) headboard. He hadn't bothered with more than boxer-briefs, and even that was just to keep everything safe. "Sounds fun; what's your plan?"

"Well, some of us have to have completely insignificant mutations," Alice replied with a smile, and gestured at her eyes. "Ta-daaa. No more fibbing about contacts. I'm gonna talk to Jenna's parents next weekend, but there shouldn't be a problem, they're pro-mutant." They'd really sympathized with Betsy's story, which she hadn't wanted to examine too closely. And honestly, who cared if their daughter changed eye color. "And I'm gonna start helping Lydia out with X-statiX. She'll put my name on their website and I'll be able to, like, hang out with Pietro or Brian in public without worrying about that aspect of things." Pietro, Brian, Betsy, Sirius... the list went on.

Harry slow clapped, grinning. "That is a beautiful plan. Makes your life so much easier, and sets you up for a lifetime of no one knowing just what you can do. I gotta bow down."

"Lydia helped," Alice said with a shrug and a small smile. It wasn't false modesty, it just... was. She picked up a piece of banana. "I'm actually really looking forward to helping her out? Let me do something not at school." She smirked, given where they were. "You know. Other than screwing your brains out." Which, fantastic as it was, wasn't fulfilling in the same sense.

"Something so gladly given can't be all that intellectually satisfying," he said with a little smirk and a look of perfect understanding. "As much as it may be satisfying in other, equally important ways.

"What's she lining up for you with X-statiX? Or is it all top secret?" This was an entirely earnest question; Harry had no doubt that much of what Lydia did was on the downlow and for really good reason. He didn't want to stick his nose in where it wasn't wanted, but he was interested.

"I'm hoping to get the classified intel once my trial period's over," Alice replied with an amused smirk. Not that she didn't think there was stuff X-statiX did that were best kept need-to-know, but she had no idea what they were so far... and humor was always the best way to deflect. Not that she expected Harry not to notice; he did it himself all of the time.

"No, I'm mostly gonna help out at events, and with some of the day to day stuff? Hold the fort when she's busy with other stuff, that kinda thing," she went on more seriously - and truthfully. "Like, she's taking some personal time after New Year's. Speaking of - celebrate together?"

"Please." Harry's smile was genuine, crinkling his eyes. "If you don't have a better offer."

"Great," Alice grinned back, the kind of grin that left no doubt as to the fact that there wouldn't be a better offer. This was it, as far as she was concerned. "What's Peter doing, do you know?" she asked, picking up another piece of fruit. What could she say, she liked the way Harry smiled when he was around.

And he did smile, if just a little. "No idea. Wondering if there will be some kind of big party at the school--or if he wants to be with his aunt or--who knows." Harry kind of hoped whatever it was, it'd involve Pryde... and also kind of didn't for reasons he wasn't proud of.

"I'm sure something'll happen," Alice confirmed with a nod. "Sirius has been dropping hints but he won't say what he's got planned yet."

"Oh good," Harry said with a chuckle. "Sirius can always be counted on for something over-the-top--if not blow-your-face-off like Shinobi."

"Don't let him hear you say that," Alice laughed. "He'll take it as a challenge." And then who knew what they would be in for. She hummed happily as she bit into a strawberry, then smiled. "Besides, Shinobi's birthday party was totally low-key." For Shinobi. Despite the little monkey.

"There was a tiny primate," Harry said, as if reading her mind. One of his eyebrows arched hard. "In a suit."

"Tiny," Alice echoed with a grin. "Now if he'd gone for a gorilla..."

Harry cracked up and stole a strawberry of his own. "Please, god, don't ever say that where he can hear you."

"I don't know, it's very tempting," Alice said after finishing the end of her strawberry. She moved to straddle Harry's hips, the bedsheet beginning to trail off of her, and leaned in to kiss him, because the only way to make strawberry better that didn't involve chocolate was to steal the taste from him. "I love giving him ideas."

"And giving me ideas, apparently." His hips lifted to fit him into her better, one hand grabbing at her ass and pulling her closer still. Then he kissed her again, this time with definite intention.
