After an afternoon of running around shifted, Bigby and Sirius hang out in their room.

Padfoot had been napping for some time, sprawled out on Bigby's bed with his chin resting lightly on the wolf’s back. This dog didn't snore exactly but he did make a noise that would have justified Harley's nickname for him of 'Snuffles' if she ever heard it though.

Dog dreams where different to human dreams but they were still vivid, incredibly vivid.

Bigby stirred, waking up, and let out a long, doggy yawn. Warm and comfortable, he didn’t move right away, instead just lying there as the last vestiges of sleep slipped away. He wondered how long he’d been out.

He’d flopped down onto his bed after a run on the grounds with Sirius, too tired to bother shifting back, and Sirius had followed. He’d been too tired to argue that too. That had been early this afternoon and it seemed like hours had gone by since then. The sun was still spilling in from the window though, so it couldn’t be too late.

Padfoot lifted his head slowly, blinking blearily as he felt the dog under him moving. With a slow yawn, he turned his attention to Bigby with a sleepy Awake? Moving? his thoughts always got more basic, simple the longer he was shifter.

Awake, but not moving. Not yet anyway.

Bigby lifted his head to look at the time on the nearby digital clock and then dropped it back onto the bed. He felt lazy, ready to stay this way for another few hours. But, his grumbling stomach was getting hard to ignore and he’d never been shifted this long before. Both were good reasons to get up. Okay. Moving now.

Padfoot pulled himself up with a groggy groan. Slowly, he cleared his head enough to shift back to human form.

Once Sirius again he stayed sprawled in the other boy’s bed, blinking and trying to adjust. His vision was still in greyscale.

Bigby sat up, shaking himself off before jumping down off the bed. Be right back. He padded into the bathroom and nudged the door closed behind him as best he could.

A couple of minutes later the door opened again and a human Bigby walked out, scrubbing a hand through his mussed hair. He felt a little...off still, as if the wolf’s instincts were still there, though slowly fading away. “Have a nice nap?” he asked Sirius as he sat down on the edge of his bed.

Sirius sat up to meet him, smiling. "Very, you?" He was getting used to the shifter company too. Pack snuggles should definitely be a regular thing.

“Slept like a dog,” Bigby replied, the small tug at the corner of his mouth the only thing showing that he was joking.

It had been nice. Quieter in a way. The dreams had been different too, less vivid and intrusive. It wasn’t something Bigby would do all the time, but he could see himself doing it now and again. “You nap shifted often?”

"Only a handful of times, you?" Sirius stretched out, getting re-familiar with his human body.

“That was a first.” Bigby was quickly realizing that he didn’t spend half as much time as Sirius did in his canine form. That was something he should probably change. More practice couldn’t hurt. “It’s not something that had ever really occurred to me before.”

"Guess I just tired you out a bit," Sirius grinned and winked, vision slowly coming into colour. "Any more firsts you want me to help you out with, mate?"

“Well, I’ve never had frozen yogurt…” Bigby dryly quipped.

"That's a start." The other boy chuckled, his flirting was entirely without intention but Bigby never complained (so far!) so he assumed it was allowed.

Bigby stood, fishing his lighter and cigarette case out of his pocket. “I’ll let you know if I think of anything else.” He walked over to the window, opening it a crack before leaning against the sill and lighting a clove cigarette.

After a moment Sirius joined him, he'd finally bought his own cigarettes so as not to piss off the roomie with nicking too many.

"My stupid jokes aside, you enjoying having a dog around as much as I've been guessing you do?"

Bigby took a drag from his cigarette to give himself time to figure out how to best word his answer. The blunt truth, which was what he usually went with, would probably come across as offensive. He didn’t dislike Sirius, but he didn’t know him well enough to like him either. Like implied trust and friendship and neither of those came easily to him. “I like it more than I expected.”

"Well, I can take that." Sirius half shrugged with a drag. Better than being hated, and just because Sirius was a self-proclaimed whore for attention and love didn't mean he didn't understand that some people needed a bit more time. "I get carried away sometimes, if you don't like the shit I come out with just say. It's your room too."

“Trust me, I will.” Bigby took another drag and then exhaled slow. The smell of the smoke filled up his senses, smothering all the other scents that regularly overpowered them. It was a welcome escape, especially after shifting back when he often felt overwhelmed by his powerful senses. “Same goes for you.”

"It's pretty hard to cross a line with me unless you're of the far right persuasion but duly noted." He leant over to flick ash out of the window. "I've been researching packs, wolf packs and behaviour. Just been a bit curious."

Bigby was definitely not that, so he and Sirius should be good there.

He tapped ash out the window too and then took a puff, “Yeah? Me too.” Mostly he had been researching wolves, hoping to better understand the ins and outs of his wolf form, but packs were a part of that. “Find anything?” He’d found himself enjoying reading about wolves. They were more interesting than he’d realized.

"Lots of things in fact. But particularly interesting to me was the documentation of wolves and dogs. Apparently wolves can either get along with dogs and at times accept them into the pack, or eat them. I consider myself warned."

Bigby had the image of a Pomeranian running with a pack of wolves and had to hold back a laugh. “I think if you haven’t been eaten by now you should be safe,” he replied, joking with his usual dryness. “Getting your ass handed to you on the other hand... That one’s still possible.”

A long drag followed by a slow exhale and smirk "Generally speaking though, I rather enjoy getting my arse beaten so you'll receive no complaints from me there."

Bigby tapped ash out the window, completely unfazed, “Good for you.” He took a final drag, stubbed out the butt, and then flicked it into the nearby trash can, immediately reaching for his case again after. It was empty, much to his disappointment. “How long have you been sitting on that one?”

"I'm just naturally witty, darling." A wink and another drag. The world was slowly returning to colour. "Or would you rather the illusion that I do prep to make sure I dazzle you thoroughly?"

“It’s not much of an illusion if I know about it.” Bigby tucked his cigarette case back in his pocket. He pushed himself off the sill and crossed the room to his bedside table, picking up his wallet and tucking that into a pocket too.

"I ain't gonna take nothing, you know." Sirius told him having watched him, "Might talk like a gutter rat but I'm not one. Just for the record."

“I’m not worried,” Bigby replied and he wasn’t, wouldn’t be even if he thought his roommate was the type to steal. He took out his cigarette case again, held it up. “I’m out. I need to go into town.”

Bigby slid the case into his back pocket again, “I don’t think you’re a gutter rat.”

"What do you think I am then?" Sirius asked as he stubbed out his smoke and flicked the butt out of the window. "Wolf you treats me very differently from you you."

“Wolf me has wolf instincts,” Bigby answered honestly. He felt a little bad. He hadn’t meant to give Sirius the impression he didn’t like him. He just didn’t know him. “I don’t know what I think you are. You seem alright.”

"So, no human snuggles on the horizon then?" His half-smile was a sign that he was joking. He just struggled to understand his room-mate sometimes. Mixed signals were confusing, he didn't know where the bounds were for them.

Bigby huffed a quiet chuckle and shook his head, amused. “No. No human snuggles on the horizon,” he replied. “But you’re welcome to head into town with me.” He hadn’t been looking for company, but it wasn’t a pity invite either. He wanted to get to know his roommate better.

"Yeah, go on then." He could do with it after sleeping half the day away. Besides if the other boy needed time, he needed time, Sirius understood it as much as he could and appreciated it. "I can drive if you want?"

“Yeah?” Bigby had been planning on walking, or taking the bus. Driving would save a lot of time, not to mention bus fare. “Sure, that’d be great, thanks. If you’re sure you don’t mind.”

"Not at all." Sirius preferred it to public transport, snobbish as that might be. "How do you feel about motorbikes?" He could drive cars too but preferred his Baby.

Bigby picked up his room key, pocketing that as well, “I’ve never been on one.” He supposed he had no opinion on it either way other than that it was a way to get around.

"No worries, I'll make sure your first time is good." Sirius winked as he grabbed his favourite leather jacket.

“If I didn’t have a healing factor, I’d be worrying about my well-being right about now,” Bigby joked as he followed Sirius out the door.

"Healing factor? No way! I didn't get one!" Sirius protested playfully before adding "Don't worry, so long as you hold me tight you'll be golden. I've never lost anyone off my bike yet."

“Yet being the operative word.” Bigby started down the stairs. “I’m not worried.”

"You'll love it mate, promise. Nothing else like it."
