A thoroughly drunken Felix meets a thoroughly hyper Jensen, and they consider powers, boys and love stories.

Grinning breathlessly, Jensen bounced off the dance floor. He grabbed his drink off the table he’d left it on and took a long drink. The ice was mostly gone now, leaving the drink beyond watered down, but he didn’t care. He took another sip and glanced out over the party, grinning when he spotted Shaun. He gave him an even bigger grin and a wave. Fuck, he looked amazing. Like, to the point that he was pretty sure the 1920s fashion style was invented just so Shaun could wear it in the future.

Jensen bounced on his feet to the music a little, looking out at the party again. This time he saw Felix and he waved, heading on over. He hadn’t wished him a happy birthday yet! “Hey! Birthday boy!” he greeted enthusiastically. “Swell shindig! It’s the bee’s knees.” Hells yeah, 1920s slang!

Felix couldn't help but giggle. He had a very generous martini glass with something pink and sweet half-filling it, and a similar pink rose in his cheeks and warmed his mouth, light a lazy sparkle in his eyes. The alcohol, the attention, the clothes, and the swirl of a whole party just for him meant that Felix forgot to be self-conscious. He smiled up at Jensen, swaying his hips idly to the distant sound of the music. "It's all like magic," Felix agreed dreamily, which he'd been saying all night, but it remained true.

"This is my first birthday party," he added, quite serious despite a certain floaty-ness to his words. "I can't possibly imagine a better one."

“It is pretty awesome!” Jensen agreed with a nod. Personally, he thought his recent, first birthday party had been the party to end all parties, but he was undeniably biased. “It seems like everyone is having a great time. Smiling faces everywhere.” He pointed to his face and grinned a big grin. “See?”

"I do," Felix confirmed, tilting his head to be sure he'd gotten a good look at it. Jensen was really very cute, especially when smiling, and Felix was pleased. With the party, and his cool pink drink, to distract him, Felix forgot to be as wary of older boys as he usually was. The emerald feather tucked into his buttonhole -- though not as coordinated with his outfit as the boutonniere, pocket square and complicatedly-tied necktie -- was there to bolster his courage, too. "I heard you have a lot to smile about," he added, brows lifting significantly. "Someone special?"

Jensen hummed a confirmation, putting a hand to his chest as he said with a joking haughty seriousness, “Yes, life has been better ever since I found Jesus.”

Glancing Shaun’s way, Jensen looked back to Felix with a grin, “That obvious, huh?” They certainly weren’t trying to hide it, not anymore anyway, but he hadn’t realized people would pick up on it so easily, or so quickly. He kinda liked that they had. “Yeah, Shaun and I are dating. He’s awesome.”

Felix spent a lot of time watching his schoolmates, frequently without their realizing it, and the change in Jensen and Shaun had been very obvious. He just hadn't been able to put his finger on it, exactly. Without pleasantly pink alcoholic drinks to exaggerate his courage, Felix hadn't been brave enough to approach Jensen directly -- he could never really forget just how much Jensen knew about him, so he kept a safe distance as if that could quarantine the facts of Felix's own past from spreading. Tonight, however, he intended on simply pretending none of that had ever happened.

"I'm just naturally perceptive," Felix assured him, which wasn't actually true at all. "He's entirely adorable. You seem very comfortable with one another. However did it happen?"

Adorable wasn’t a word Jensen would have used to describe Shaun, but Felix was right--He was entirely fucking adorable. And he liked that they were described as comfortable with one another. He really liked the idea that Shaun was comfortable with him. “Basically it can be summed up as I’m really fucking lucky,” he answered. Which in addition to being true sounded better than we were fuck buddies and then Shaun asked me out on a date. He wasn’t sure how Shaun would feel with that piece of information being shared.

Had Jensen been any drunker, he would have continued, adding that he honestly didn’t know what Shaun saw in him and sometimes he still couldn’t believe they were dating, but he wasn’t drunk enough. Not even close. He was, however, drunk enough to say, “We live together. And we like a lot of the same things. I guess we just got close. I mean, he’s awesome and oh my fucking God hot. Someone would have to be, I don’t know, fucking dead to not want to date him. And even them I’m not entirely convinced that a corpse wouldn’t rise from the grave for the chance. It happened for Traci Lind anyway.”

Felix wasn't sure who Jensen was talking about -- he had missed quite a bit of popular culture -- but he could extrapolate well enough. His brows were high, somewhat startled at Jensen's language and the apparent forcefulness of his attraction. It made him a little nervous, but Felix knew that was his own problem, not Jensen's. Something just seemed off about the older boy, but then again, Felix's senses were rather alcohol-muddled at the time.

"Oh! It could be? John -- do you know John? -- he's writing a love story from beyond the grave, about a medium and the ghost-boy he falls in love with. And he gave me a book full of ghost romance stories. I would never have thought of it! Ghosts aren't generally very friendly."

“Caspar was friendly,” Jensen pointed out with a grin. “I’m guessing the ghosts in his book and in the short stories were sexier though.” He pretended to shudder. “I so do not want to imagine Caspar slash. But, yeah, that sounds awesome. Dude, is way fucking busy, huh? Last time I talked to him he was writing a Wuthering Heights fanfic.” He could totally relate to the multiple projects at once thing, he was always doing that himself, but he’d never be able to actually finish them all. It was impressive.

"Wuthering Heights... is Bronte, right? I'm still in the A's," Felix mused. He wanted to read everything, but had begun with a list of classic books list, sorted alphabetically by author, just at the start of Christmas Break. Austen was taking forever.

"John writes an awful lot of stories. It must be terribly distracting to have such an imagination," Felix commented, drifting toward distracted dreaminess himself. "I don't think I could decide on my love story. A beautiful vampire or the lonely High King? Where to start?"

Jensen’s eyebrows jumped at Felix’s mention of working his way through the library. That was impressive. “Why not both?” he suggested. He waved his hand in an arch as if imagining the title. “The lonely and beautiful High Vampire King. Sounds like romance novel gold. You could call it... Thirst in the Highlands. Or Seduction at Dark.”

Felix brightened up at the idea, and a hint of the effervescent sparkle that lay often cloaked within his dreamy half-awake manner started to shine through. "I hadn't thought of that! The king is a vampire. Oh, that's very good. I might have to turn that one into a whole dream."

Felix’s enthusiasm had Jensen grinning big. “You should!” he agreed. “It’s your dream fantasy thing! If you can’t go all out with that, what can you? Vampires aren’t really my thing, but I totally understand the sentiment.”

Jensen took a swig of his drink. “Hey, if you end up writing it you’ll have to let me read it.”

"I won't write it," Felix answered, clarifying, not contradicting. "I'll dream it. That's the only thing about dreams, I'm afraid. We haven't developed sufficient technology to record them for others' enjoyment." He paused, then added, "I mean, unless you have millions of dollars to make a film about it, and even then, I'm sure it's never quite right."

Jensen laughed and nodded, “You’re probably right.”

“Awesome use of your mutation though,” Jensen said, grinning. “It’s like getting to make your own movies. Cast of your choice, script of your choice... Oh man, I’d completely redo the Star Wars prequels.” He sighed. “Make another season of Stargate: Universe. It’d be awesome.”

Felix was feeling so bold between the excitement of the evening and the bubbly lightness of his drink that he almost offered. He could step into Jensen's dreams and create them all, every detail he could imagine, and give him the starring role. It would have been easy... but it might also have been too good. Jensen might not want to leave. Felix knew that was wrong.

"It's my favorite place to be," he answered, rambling dreamily. "My own whole world. Sometimes I don't remember which one is really real, all this, or all that." Felix made a gesture around his person, and then vaguely above his head, which was where he always imagined the dreams took place.

“Freddie Mercury immortalized that sentiment pretty well,” Jensen replied with a chuckle. “I think a lot of people can relate to it.” As well as a lot of people who wouldn’t mind getting lost in those dream worlds. He used to be one of them, it was possible he still was sometimes. “Just try not to get too caught up in it, huh? There’re a lot of people who would miss you out here.”

Jensen finished the last of his drink and then quickly glanced over his shoulder to see how far away the drink table was. Not too far, but not exactly close either. “So, can you only Dream of the Endless in your own dreams, or in anyone’s?”

Perhaps he went a little bit pink when Jensen noted he would be missed if he wandered off into his dream worlds, but it could also be the drinks. Felix was feeling a touch warm. "Oh, anyone's," he answered. "Anyone's at all. I don't, usually, because people like their dreams to be private. But Caius doesn't mind, and I did help Pietro once. I think anyone at the school... I've never really tried to go further away."

“You should! Even if you can’t though, that’s still awesome,” Jensen told Felix and then smiled at him. “You have a really cool power, dude. You’re like a badass Sandman.” He tilted the glass back to get the last few drops that lingered at the bottom of it. “Also, it’s much more original than telekinesis. Not that I don’t love having TK, ‘cause I do. It’s awesome and like being a Jedi.”

Though Felix wasn't technically the host of the party, he could at least help Jensen with his drink situation. With a small, maybe shy smile, he pointed around his glass toward where he'd gotten his last refill, and then gestured Jensen to come along with him to the table. "In a world with only less than a hundred mutants are you really concerned about being unoriginal?" he giggled quietly.

“Not concerned,” Jensen replied as he filled his glass. He wasn’t sure what it was, but it was bright pink, just like Felix’s drink was, and it looked delicious. “Like I said, I love my mutation. I’m just…making an observation, I guess. Telekinesis is all over science-fiction, dream-walking not so much. I mean, there’s, what? Dream and Freddy Krueger. And those guys in that movie and they needed a machine. As for TK, there’s Carrie, Alma, those kids in Chronicle, Tetsuo, Sylar, Max Miller...” He paused and looked vaguely amused. “Mostly bad guys actually.” He took a sip of his brightly colored beverage. Mm, yummy! “It’s just awesome is what I’m saying.”

Felix's nose wrinkled delicately. He knew Freddy just from absorbing popular culture, but not Dream. He'd not made it to the G's in the library yet. Jensen's enthusiasm for his power, however, was rather adorable to see. "Well. You'll be a good guy. That's pretty obvious."

Jensen laughed and joked, “Boy, do you not know me,” even though the compliment, and to him it was just that, made warmth bloom in his chest. “Thanks though. It’s pretty obvious you’ll be a good guy too. No Krueger for you and you’re nicer than Dream. Dude was a hero, but wow could he ever be an ass too.”

Maybe that was a little more apt than Jensen realized. Felix knew himself well enough to know he wasn't the hero of any story, but he saw no reason to let that slip. Besides, he was much too fuzzy-headed and pleased to attempt a philosophical discussion. "Hmm. Since I'm dreaming the story, I guess I can pick if I'm good or bad," he noted, his words wandering and drifting contentedly. "I'll be sure to let you know how it turns out."

“Definitely!” Jensen agreed, grinning at Felix. “Knight in shining armor, or evil villain, either way I’m sure it’ll be awesome.”

Jensen took a drink from his glass, looking out at the party. It looked like the whole fucking school was here. Felix was popular, huh? “I probably should let you go, huh? Instead of hogging the birthday boy.”

The truth was probably something closer to the fact that Shinobi had insisted, bribed and dragged most of the school to the party, but Felix didn't care. He felt wanted, and that was the most wonderful feeling he'd ever had. "Well," Felix confided, thoughtfully, "I am thinking of asking Remus to dance. I think I ought to do that while I am still at least mostly upright."

Jensen laughed. “Yeah, dancing’s kinda difficult when you’re not upright,” he agreed, joking. “You should go then! Drag his behind out onto that dance floor.” He took a quick glance around, looking for Shaun. “I’m gonna see if I can find my boyfriend and do the same. Except with his behind, not Remus’.”

"Oh, good luck!" Felix wished Jensen, quite sincerely even though it didn't quite make sense to say such a thing. Perhaps just because a part of him thought he might need quite a bit of luck to convince Remus to do something as attention-getting as dancing. "I think I'll start with his front side, though."

With a sweet and distracted smile, Felix giggled to himself, and wiggled his fingers in a goodbye wave to Jensen before preparing to wander off.

“Good plan,” Jensen replied, his voice warm with laughter. “I think I’m just gonna stick with Shaun’s back side.” It was a nice back side. “Just for starters anyway. Then I’ll move onto his front side and his side sides... Don’t want to miss anything!”

That comment was enough to send Felix scurrying away, blushing and giggling at the same time. For his own self, he was going to take things one side at a time.

Waving after Felix, Jensen called out, “Good luck, dude! And happy birthday!” and then headed off in the opposite direction.
