Jeanne-Marie asks Simon to dance. Poor Simon, seriously...

In one of her lulls between dances, Jeanne-Marie spotted Simon (at least, she was relatively certain it was him under there) making some adjustment to his camera and decided to approach. It was a relief to be friends with him again, but she wasn't quite sure if she could talk him into dancing, or if he would feel too awkward. She was certainly going to try, though.

"Hello, Simon. Are you having a good time?" She asked with a huge smile.

Simon's eyes widened behind his sunglasses, when Jeanne-Marie suddenly addressed him. He really ought to be used to being her friend by now, but he still wasn't. He couldn't understand why she still was. Or was again. "Hi," he managed to answer, giving her an awkward smile hidden behind bandages. "It's a good party," he stated, stopping fiddling with the camera. "Are you enjoying it?"

"I always love our parties. Actually, last Halloween was my first party ever," she confided easily. She wasn't sure if Simon was still extra awkward around her because of what had happened, or if this was precisely as awkward as he'd been before all that; either way, she tried her best to put him at ease when she could, and it didn't seem to work that well.

"I had never gone to a party before community service," Simon shared as well, because it seemed only fair. Unlike Jeanne-Marie, though, it hadn't been about circumstances so much as about people never inviting him.

"That makes me feel a little less silly. It isn't too bad anymore, but for a while I felt like I really didn't know anything, compared to everyone else. There were just so many things that I missed." Sometimes it made her angry to think of it, and sometimes sad, but tonight, with all the music and her friends, her family and her boyfriend, plus just the general costume party atmosphere, she didn't really think about it too hard. Her grin went a little wicked. "I have been making up for it though, in the last year."

Simon nodded in agreement, his bandages hiding another small smile. "I've been trying to do that, too." With more or less success, obviously; case in point. "You look very happy tonight." And very... sexy, too, but at least the bandages also served to hide his blushes, tonight.

"I can't tell if you do or not," she said with a small laugh. "You did say it was a good party, but does that mean you're personally having fun, or just that you think everyone else is?"

"I like filming people having fun," Simon replied, with another hidden small smile. The answer to her question was yes. Both.

And she took it as such, chuckling again. "Your film from the Masquerade was perfect." A slight pause. Then, "Can you take a break to dance with me, though? Just for a little while?"

His eyebrows raised, behind his bandages, and he silenced the voice at the back of his head that said that see, she had to fancy him a little. Of course she didn't. "Okay," he simply answered, unable to keep some of his apprehension from his voice, but he turned to put the camera back in his bag, against the wall.

She waited patiently--the song was a nice one, bouncy but not too extreme, and semi-familiar, so she bounced along with it, and held out her hands for his when he stood again, grinning.

The song wasn't exactly Simon's sort of music, but it could have been much worse, and at least he wasn't a slow song. Given how sexy Jeanne-Marie looked tonight (she always looked beautiful, but tonight she looked particularly sexy), he was very glad that it was not a slow song. Still, holding hands? He was glad for the gloves, so she would not realise how clammy his hands felt right then. He took hers, and went to the dance floor with her.

She let him go once they got to a decent space and started moving immediately, head and hips and even shoulders shaking and rocking, but mostly she bounced. It was that kind of song. She smiled as he started to move, recognizing it, though it wasn't exact. It did make her think of that awkward night, watching Control. But it was sort of a sweet memory now, really.

There was really only one way Simon knew how to dance (apart from slow songs), and it was à la Ian Curtis. Fortunately, it did not work too badly on this song, but he still felt like a bit of an idiot, dancing with someone as beautiful as Jeanne-Marie, and who knew how to dance much better than he did.

Jeanne-Marie grinned at him as she bounced on her absurdly high heels, her hair going in odd directions, but she didn't care. It was funny, because most people would look silly dancing like that. But not Ian Curtis, and not Simon. "You should dance more often," she said. "Though it would take away from your filming time, I suppose."

Simon, already flushing from the exertion, hot as the costume was, blushed a little more under his bandages. Should he, really? He didn't think so. "Filming's easier," he confirmed, although perhaps a little less fun than dancing with Jeanne-Marie. At least she didn't judge him.

"Well, it requires less energy, but more thought," she reasoned.

"But just as much feeling," Simon finished for her, with another small, hidden smile.

She couldn't see it, but she imagined it anyhow. She smiled happily. "That is very true. No matter what the music is."

"This isn't too bad," Simon stated after a few seconds' silence, meaning the song they were dancing to.

"I like it," Jeanne-Marie said with a grin. She recognized the band, she thought, but couldn't remember the name. "I wonder if it belongs to anyone. Pietro and Wanda mixed in a song for each of us, did you know?"

"Oh?" Simon's eyebrows had shot up at the news. "I didn't." For each of them? He couldn't believe that; maybe just for their friends.

"Everyone--at least, as far as I know. Pietro did it last year, too, but I didn't know it then."

"I wasn't here yet," Simon stated, but he wasn't sure he would be on this year's playlist any more than on last year's.

She laughed. "Yes, I am aware. I am only pointing out that it is something he has done before, including every student. Lucky he had Wanda to help this time though; there are far more of us now. You should ask one of them which one is for you."

"Maybe," Simon agreed, although he already knew that he wouldn't, but he didn't want to sound rude.

Jeanne-Marie also knew that he wouldn't, but that didn't mean she would stop trying to get him introduced to more people. Though perhaps Pietro wasn't quite the best choice, at least he knew a lot of people; Wanda, on the other hand, would be perfect for him, as friends went. She grinned. "Or maybe I will. I am always curious."

"Do you know which one is for you?" Simon asked curiously - and also to change the topic of the conversation to something that wasn't him.

"Something by the Kooks--Pietro said he'd tap me on the shoulder when it came on," she said, doing a little shimmy towards the ground, then up again. "As long as I can dance to it, I will be happy."

"Will you let me know, when it is it?" Simon asked, glad once again, at that shimmy, that his costume hid any blushing from view.

"Certainly." She'd let him know his, too, she decided. As long as it was a good song.
