The girls dance and gush about each other. It's adorable as are they.

Since coming to America, Ellie had decided that Halloween was the single best tradition that this country had. Everyone wanted to look beautiful and spooky and appreciated the colour black like it deserved to be appreciated! Ellie had made a new black gown for the dance, having arrived dressed as Morticia Addams---a movie character who Ellie was sure was her hero. She had made sure that the details of the dress were just as perfect as the make-up on her face and the hair on her head.

It felt fun to dress up as someone else for a little while.

It was also very fun to see others dressed in her own creations. Ellie smiled at the sight of Melissa standing nearby, and decided to make her way over. "Hello, friend. You look very beautiful."

"And so do you, wow!" Melissa gasped as she spun around "And, you know, I only look good because of my wonderful seamstress. Well, and my dresser." She chuckled happily. The costume itself was pretty daring by her standards, not only daring but the first time she'd worn a dress in public in over a year. But she felt safe for the moment, she was with real friends and she was completely safe. She kept telling herself that.

"Thank you," Ellie whispered, and folded her hands in front of herself. She felt very flattered and pleased that she'd made Melissa happy, and also that the other girl could say such nice things about her.

"And daring is a very good thing! If you feel good, then thrills should be the way of life, yes?" Ellie beamed.

"It...it can be good. So far here it seems to be." Mel nodded, trying not to think about why dresses and parties and such made her nervous, Ellie didn't need that inflicted on her. Anymore than it already may have accidentally been. "Are you enjoying the party?" If the people and minds were too much, she was very happy to take her friend to find some relative quiet for a moment.

"Yes, so far. Tessa has helped me lots, you see, and now the voices are not so loud," Ellie explained with a smile. Not that her control was perfect and not that people ever got better at not projecting, but she'd had more improvement the last couple months than she had all of the year she had been at the school. "I am very glad for that, as I was looking forward to seeing costumes! Monsters and dressing up is my favourite!"

All spook and gloom, all the time!

"You do look in your element!" There was no denying that at all. "It's crazy how popular Halloween is here. You don't get this sorta shit in England!"

"No? We do not get anything like this in Genosha, either. Just a harvest...that is oh so boring in comparison! Is England boring too?"

"Yeah, people call it the American thing. Like there might be a bit of trick or treating or some half arsed parties but people don't care much really. Nothing like this." She motioned first around the party and then to the amazing costume, grinning at her a little.

There was so much about this country that Ellie was finding to be fascinating. So many things about her friends' countries too, and how everyone had become accustomed to the new things. What they liked and what they did not like. In this case it just so happened that this custom included darkness and monsters and horror culture and that was the infinitely added bonus! "And do you feel differently about it now than you did before?"

Mel thought about it for a second before admitting "Doubt I'll ever be as into it as people are here but any reason for a party is awesome for me. Plus, awesome dressing up." She posed for a moment in the outfit Ellie had made her. It was seriously crazy, it had take her and Caius ages to get it all perfect, with all these intricate details and layers and straps. When you looked closely, the detail was just seriously cool. The other girl had clearly spent a lot of time on the dress. Which prompted Mel to add "Actually, we never discussed payment?"

Actually, Ellie looked almost taken aback by that. "Payment?"

No one had offered her a payment for her work before. Tessa was always good at exchanging help, support, and company for her outfits and ideas, but never payment. Or did that count as a payment? Ellie wasn't so sure, but she never expected anything from people but to simply just make them happy.

"Well yeah!" Melissa half chuckled back, endeared by Ellie's response. "You put buttloads of time and effort into this, why wouldn't I pay you? I mean I earn so money isn't a huge problem. Or, you know, if you want to trade off for me doing something for you or whatever. You set the price, let me know ok? I'm serious. Amazing work like this deserves it." She was firm but still playful in her tone. Ellie deserved to be paid for her hard work after all, otherwise she'd be being pretty sucky to her friend right?

Melissa actually managed a blush out of Ellie, and the shorter girl wrung her hands against her tummy. "You see...I have nothing else to do but make clothes, I am simple, and bored, and never have any plans with people and I thought it would make you happy so that is why I agreed to do it..." It came out as a rushed babble, and Ellie grew more and more shy with the admission. "I would not know what to ask of you in return, if I am honest."

Watching Ellie grow clearly more and more uncomfortable and embarrassed had Mel feeling bad and hearing the comment about being bored and basically alone alot had her feeling worse. She honestly hadn't realised.

"Well, you did make me happy but equally I want to make you happy in return." Mel told her honestly before switching to talking in her mind, remembering that Ellie had noted before that she preferred it. 'So if there's anything that you'd like to do, let me know. And not just coz I kind of owe you but because we're friends, I'd like to hang more. If you want.'

Of course there was a chance Ellie preferred being alone, but Mel couldn't image that. Besides, she had sounded pretty sad when she'd said it. Or had Melissa just inferred that because she knew she'd feel sad in that situation?

Ellie just simply wasn't used to the idea of 'give and get'. People had never given her a chance to share her talents with them back home, so it was new just getting to do things for people this past year. Not to mention everyone here was so kind and even after a year of having people treat her better, it was still odd for her. One year didn't undo all of her past experiences, so Ellie still had to adjust.

'I would love to hang out with you more, Melissa, yes!' That was always a good enough return. 'Perhaps maybe you can come with me into town? I would love to find some new platforms sometime soon, yes, before the snow comes...'

'Great, well just let me know. Since I started doing online classes my schedule's gotten pretty flexible.' The English girl told her, pleased that Ellie no longer seemed as uncomfortable. 'In the meantime, just curious, what are your opinions on dancing?'

The younger girl's eyes positively lit up. 'I love it! Oh, Melissa, would you dance with me?'

'How can a girl say no to that? Come on.' Melissa was chuckling out loud as she grabbed her friend's hand. For the moment her nerves and worries had melted away.

Ellie let herself be whisked away to the make shift dance floor, grin spread across her face from ear to ear. She may not have had the moves that most girls busted out at a club or anything, but she very much had her own style that she wasn't at all shy about using it. She was an industrial girl right down to her very core, and it came out in the way she moved her limbs as she bounced--even to pop songs. 'I love costumes but they make this hard! Hee!'

Mel on the other hand was far more accustomed to dancing in her male body though she was more than familiar with the music. At the very beginning of the night there had been more than a few worries about nip slips to consider due to the design of the dress but so far she seemed pretty secure. Besides, it had also occurred to her that it wouldn't be the end of the world really, her boobs were pretty damn awesome.

'I know! So long as I don't trip on my skirts it'll be all good.' She mentally laughed back. Long skirts weren't exactly a wardrobe staple for her and whilst she'd worn heels a fair few times, the platform heels she'd borrowed from Alison were higher than she's usually go for. Still, she was rocking them so far.

'You are doing very well so far,' Ellie couldn't help but chuckle as she moved about. 'With the skirts and with the platforms...they are an acquired taste, yes?'

But looked so fantastic at least!

'Requiring a fair bit of practice an'all to be honest!' But she hadn't wanted to stifle Ellie's creating when she was designing and the whole skirt/dress issue in general had actually been a good way to face some on going issue type things. 'Worth it though, seriously girl I love what you've done. You've got skill.' It was pretty cool to be able to keep the conversation going despite the music and dancing, she knew there were plenty of downsides to Ellie's power but this wasn't one.

No, communicating with thoughts while you did anything else made life so much easier, in Ellie's opinion. Luckily, all of her friends who let her in were very good for taking to it quite naturally, too. 'Thank you, yes, wow, but clothing would not be as wonderful if it were not for the person wearing it pulling it off so well, you know.'

"You flatterer!' Mel's thoughts were still light and full of laughter, this felt good. Just dancing with friends and having fun, the worries and
stressing about the party and the dress had just melted away. Even if it didn't last, she was glad for it and for the friends she had here.

'It is the truth! I promise,' Ellie assured happily. Some clothes could just look plain old horrible on people if they weren't the right styles or right fits. Wearers made the magic climax, in her opinion. She was supremely happy that Mel seemed to genuinely take the compliment, though. "But I am very happy that you like it!"

"Like it? I love it." She was corrected sincerely as the music changed up again. She grabbed her friend's hand again as they danced, guiding her to spin around.

Ellie went with the motion easily, gown flowing about her feet as she spun. A burst of laughter unexpectedly erupted from her in the process, much to her own delight. "Thank you, Melissa, you are the most wonderful, yes!"

Grinning widely at her friend's obvious joy, Melissa used her mind to reply 'You're pretty damn wonderful yourself, Ellie!'
