The day after the Valentine's party, Simon's still angry (in his own quiet way) at Nathan for Nathan's offering to let Damon manipulate him. It turns out Nathan may actually care about Simon's feelings, because he bothers to try and make it up to his roommate with a rather thoughtful gift... No matter how uncomfortable it becomes for Simon.
