Sharon and Sirius bond at her birthday shindig.

Sharon was bouncing between groups of friends as the day went on. She caught sight of Sirius, sans his very crimson companion, and made the point of wandering over to him. She hadn't had time to do more than greet them when they'd arrived so clearly she needed to bother him.

"Hi!" Sharon greeted warmly. She glanced around until she spied Jay waylaid by the drinks.

That explained where he was. Sharon smiled at her friend. "Having fun? Is your Jay having good time?" she asked.

Sirius couldn't help beaming at the use of 'your'.

"Very much so," He nodded, arms opening to offer her a hug. "And what about you? Is the birthday girl having a wonderful time?"

Sharon grinned and went in to hug him, giving his shoulder an affectionate nuzzle. "Yes," she said soundly. "Very nice."

He hugged her tightly for a moment "Many happy returns, luv. You know, since this is your first birthday party and all, I got you a little something."

"Oh?" She peered up curiously.

With a mischievous grin, Sirius pull her gift out of his pocket a baggy of cat nip "I did my research, it's the good stuff. Happy birthday."

Since discovering at Battersea that doggy highs worked on him, well it was worth a try right?

Sharon glanced curiously and then snorted when she saw what it was. "Thank you, Sirius," she said, accepting the gift.

"Let me know what you think of it," Sirius grinned back before asking, "There's quite some pressure buying for someone's first birthday."

Sharon smiled. "Just happy you're here," she said. "Have nothing to compare this to, so everything is amazing. Having friends..." She nudged him with her tail. "Good."

Sirius tightened his arm around her a little, after all it was Sharon so totally no reason for Jay to be jealous.  "Friends are good, yes. And looks to me that you've gathered yourself some real good friends here. Quality is everything, darling."

She glanced around and smiled warmly. "I like. Even if you can't all be cats."

"Well, being a dog is almost as good, right?"

"Almost," she said, lips quirked.

"I'll take what I can get," He winked back.

She chuckled and gave him another friendly nuzzle. "Good puppy," she said.

"Well, with the right incentive I can be very good," He agreed with a chuckle and a nuzzle in return.
Sharon leaned against him and glanced over to where Sirius' companion was socializing again. "So, don't know well. Is Jay nice? Wings are awesome."

"Mm, they really are." Sirius agreed as he looked over to Jay too, adoration obvious. "He's a sweetheart, I can introduce you in a bit if you like?"

"Would like!" She agreed. "Bold colors also very good. In good company."

"The birthday girl's wish is my command." He told her with a small mock bow. "And I want to hear if there's anyone special or fun in your life too, kitten. You deserve a pretty playmate or three."

Sharon smiled. "Only two. Maybe three one day," she promised.

"I'm sure it'll happen, who could resist?" He winked as they started to head around the campfire.

Sharon gave him a playful nudge with her tail, grinning. "Wonder if more shifters will come. Have so many! But keep saying we might get a rabbit. Or worse. Deer."

Sirius chuckled though admitted "I rather like deer, stag can be quite....majestic. They're nothing compared to cats of course."

"All fun and games until I bite a student. Would have to make them wear something so they don't get eaten."

"Sometimes biting is part of the fun and games." He couldn't resist pointing out.

Sharon rolled her eyes. "Not that kind of biting, puppy. Some of us eat what we hunt."

"Am I not wild enough for you? Sharon, you break my heart!"

She gave him a gentle pat-pat with her tail. "Domestic's not bad. Jay probably prefers you house-trained."

Sirius snorted at that "I am hardly house-trained!" Though she was right, that probably was what Jay wanted.

She gave him a crooked smile and hummed, not commenting.

"What darling? Say what you think, I'll try not to be too hurt." He told her, still playing.

"Just sad that you can't be trusted with furniture," she teased.

Sirius let out a loud bark of laughter before shooting back. "At least I don't need a scratching post, eh?"

"Missing out." She bumped her shoulder against his, a nudge of amusement.

"Given the right situation, I much prefer being the one who's getting scratched."

"Do you heal?" Sharon asked curiously. "When you change."

"Nope, I missed out when they were handing out the healing gene." A shame too, that woulda come in handy at certain points in his life. "You?"

She nodded. "When I'm a big cat, very hard to hurt me. Easier when I'm smaller, but will heal faster when I'm bigger."

"Nice, I have enhanced senses and all sorts but nothing outside what a regular dog does. That's more than a human in a lot of things though, of course." Generally, shifters heard more, saw and smelt more giving them a lot more insightful to, well, almost anything.

Sharon nodded. "Could you always change?" she asked.

"No, just a few years actually. You have right?"

"When I was little. Always different, though." She curled her tail. "Like this."

Sirius watched it with a small smile "I do find myself missing the tail in human form at times," He admitted.

"Would probably fall over," Sharon said with a smile.

"Mmm, very hand things." Sirius agreed, watching hers for the moment. "I'd be lost if I went back to human sense though. I love it, well mostly. There are times when a great sense of smell is a curse."

She chuckled at that. "Can't imagine not being able to see right. Everything would be so slow."

"Like going from HD telly to black and white," Sirius agreed.

She leaned in against him again, a fond shoulder rub. Sirius understood. She loved knowing more shifters in the world.

Sirius smiled, feeling the same sentiment. Shifters experienced things on a different level to others, it was good to be able to share that with others. "Happy birthday Kitten." He said affectionately, planting a soft kiss on the top of her head.
