Sharon and Bart put off homework in favor of running around outside.
There was a period of time between lessons and other students being free for the day where they were encouraged to work on homework. Sharon was attempting the homework thing. Really. She'd curled up in the common room, poking through the different subjects, but at this point she'd started doodling pictures of trees and clouds in the margins of her notebook.
She sighed audibly and her tail swished, thwapping Bart next to her on the couch.
Bart looked up at her from trying to write a summary of all the things that weren't right in the book he was assigned this lesson in comparison to the last one on the same topic. It's totally crazy. "Bored already? Thank god..."
He hated trying to settle and do this. Especially slow speed. "How many pages of of those did you do?"
She flipped through the pages. "Many. Meh. Homework later. Why is it not summer? Would be better with more sunlight."
"We could finish this outside. If you want. Or maybe go for a run?" He could totally could go for that. He was always up for running.
She pushed the notebook aside at that suggestion. "Run. Yes!"
"C'mon, then. Anything's better than this." He blurred to put his stuff away, then grinned a lot.
Sharon just left her stuff in a pile on the table. She could come back for it later. "Meet you outside!" She knew he'd get there faster, and she had to ditch her clothes first.
And this was definitely one of those times when Bart was doing his best not to be impatient, pacing a circle just outside the edge of the grounds, eyes looking for Sharon. The last thing he wanted was to get pounced for not paying enough attention.
The large purple cat finally bounded around the building. She ran toward Bart, jumping his way playfully, expecting him to dodge.
Bart liked playing with the kitty, because she was nice and understood how stupid the classes could be. And that was why he dodged, but not too far. Close enough to keep playing cat and mouse. And of course he was the mouse.
The problem with superspeed was technically Bart had the advantage. But that didn't stop Sharon from chasing him around. Because where was the fun in not trying!
Just because he was faster didn't make it any less fun. Besides, sometimes she was the better hunter, because she could jump and climb and use the woods in ways he didn't know. And sometimes being pinned to the ground by a giant kitty was as much fun as running. Because then they could roll around and get messy and do all sorts of things that the other people didn't always think was fun.
People were strange. Maybe it was better that Sharon didn't think like a human.
