Peter and Kitty go on a Valentine's Day date.

Peter took Kitty’s hand as they left the Italian restaurant, and he gave her a grin. Maybe it was a little cheesy to have a Valentine’s Day dinner at the same place they’d had their first date in, but he was having a great time. Next stop on the First Valentine’s Day Tour 2015 was the movies. Which was also maybe a little bit cheesy (especially considering the movie was Jupiter Ascending), and a cliché, but again, great time.

“So,” Peter said, swinging their laced hands, “favorite fictional couple. Go.”

Kitty laughed and hid her face in one hand for a moment before finally looking up, shaking her head. "Ugh it's so embarrassing. But okay. Hermione and Ron."

“Oh, that’s awful. Just awful,” Peter teased, his voice lined with laughter and his grin huge. “Nah, that’s a good one. That’s a good one. I’m still pretending Rowling didn’t say that Hermione should have ended up with Harry.”

Peter tilted his head back, looking skyward as if he’d find answers there, “My favorite fictional couple issssss… Han and Leia.” He nodded and looked at Kitty. “Yeah, definitely Han and Leia.”

Kitty's eyes widened in surprise. "You're just saying that..."

“About Han and Leia? Or Ron and Hermione?” Peter asked. “‘Cause I’m not just saying it about either.”

She grinned a little too wide and ducked her head, squeezing his hand tighter. "I just can't believe you're a Star Wars nut too. I mean, it's popular. I guess I just didn't expect you to pick my second-favorite pair."

Yeah, so that smile was probably the cutest thing Peter had ever seen. “I think liking Star Wars is, like, a nerd prerequisite,” he joked, grinning.

"Well. Not always? But. You know. I, um, take a little further than usual," Kitty admitted.

“Further how?” Peter asked, curious and amused.

"So. And you can't tell anyone, especially Becky, but I sometimes maybe write fanfiction. Sometimes! When I'm not busy. Which I am," Kitty flushed from her toes to the roots of her hair.

“Aw, that’s nothing to be embarrassed about,” Peter said, lightly bumping his shoulder against Kitty’s and smiling at her. “I used to make models of sci-fi spaceships. But, then I got into skateboarding and it was,” he made a fluttering motion with his fingers, “almost everything else for a while. But, yeah, fanfiction is cool.”

Kitty grinned and bumped his shoulder back. "Peter Parker, you are just about perfect. How can anyone measure up to you being so patient and nice, and cool with everything?"

Peter flushed at the compliments, rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand. “I’m not really,” he said, shrugging awkwardly. “I’m just me.”

"I'm being weird," Kitty agreed with a sigh. "So what are your deep dark secrets? Anything scandalous? Sordid fanfiction in your past?"

“You know my secret,” Peter replied, which was mostly true. She knew one of his secrets anyway, which was just about as many as anyone else knew. “And I just told you about the model thing.”

"Why don't you make them anymore?" she asked curiously.

Peter stopped at the curb and pressed the button on the nearby street lamp for the crossing light, “I just kinda fell out of it. I got distracted by other things, and never really got back into it.”

"Now I feel silly for getting you Legos," Kitty grinned at him.

“No! They were the best!” Peter excitedly disagreed. “How many people get Legos of themselves?” The light pinged for them to cross, and he started off the curb with a little drop, grinning over at Kitty.

"You're a pop culture icon! I mean, I had to order them from this specialty shop, so I guess someone makes them special? But still," Kitty bounced off the curb with him, tugging him forward across the street at a little jog.

Peter laughed at ‘pop culture icon’, embarrassed, but not necessarily in a bad way. He was so not a pop culture icon. ...Was he?

“I’ll take what I can get,” he replied with another chuckle, and let Kitty tug him along across the street.

Kitty squeezed his hand. "Just be careful out there, okay? I'm pretty sure you're not bullet-proof."

“I always am,” Peter replied with a grin, and he gave Kitty’s hand a squeeze in return.
