Noriko tries again. They both make an effort and manage to agree to something.
Noriko had gotten back to her room pretty late last night, after finally getting around to watching that horrible sci-fi movie with Philip. Besides, she could use sleeping on it before she brought it up with her roommate again. So she'd gone to bed, and then gone through her day of class, and her team training.
She was just out of the shower, before dinner, when Abby walked in. Noriko, dressed in a simple tight tee and ripped jeans, gave a few more rubs of the towel through her hair, then grabbed a brush to untangle it, coming to stand in the bathroom doorway to be able to see Abby.
"So our last attempt at communication was an epic fail," she stated evenly.
"Seems like," Abigail agreed, not sounding particularly apologetic about it, but not anything like combative either. They'd gotten their wires crossed, she wasn't going to start assigning blame. "This take two, then?"
"Something like it," Noriko confirmed as she brushed her hair. "Philip said he'd explained the teams."
"More or less," Abigail said with a nod, and actually managed to keep the fact that she still thought they were stupid to herself. Getting into another argument wouldn't get them anywhere. "And you're what, on the younger team?"
Noriko nodded. "For now. I turn eighteen in April." And unless Scott had changed his mind about her, she'd make it on his team then.
Well, at least she could make sure that someone sort of knew what they were doing. Like hell Abigail was going to admit that Coulson had a point, though, even in her own head. "So what do you want to know? Just self-defense or what?"
"No," Noriko shook her head, frowning slightly. Had Philip really explained the teams, if Abby had to ask that kind of question? "I need to be ready for anything - as much as possible, obviously. It's an intervention team."
Abigail resisted the urge to roll her eyes, but it was a close thing. "Okay, but I can't just teach you 'anything'. That's not how it works. You kind of have to pick a thing, and then we can go."
"Yeah," Noriko wryly allowed - her usual tone, not her giving lip. She really didn't agree with that, but whatever. Abby was the teacher here, and she'd roll with that. "So maybe tell me what I'm supposed to pick from. I don't have a clue what you can do." She was trusting Philip's assessment here; it wasn't as if Abby had ever opened up to her.
"Well considering all the crap about body type, Phil's obviously thinking hand-to-hand," Abigail said, tone shifting into something almost musing. "Maybe some basic escape stuff, I don't know. Guns on the outside, but there's better choices for that than me."
"Then let's stick to what you're the best choice for," Noriko stated. Guns weren't a priority for her anyway, much as she wanted to know how to use them - and work against them.
This really wasn't the way she wanted to work at all, but Abigail just sighed softly. She could roll with it, whatever. "Fair enough. I'll write you into my schedule."
"How much time are we talking about?" Noriko asked as she put the brush away, and walked back to her bed to pick up her gauntlets and slide them back on. Her schedule wasn't as packed as, say, Philip's, and she'd shift things around however much she needed to make it work, as long as it didn't interfere with JVX. But she'd like to have an idea of how much time Abby was willing to put into this.
"I don't know, couple hours a day? Have to see how much work we need to do first," Abigail said with a shrug.
"Let me know when and where you want me," Noriko nodded. Two hours a day was a lot, given how much she already had going on, but she felt better about it than if Abby had gone for a couple of hours a week. It would clearly be worth it, and so she would make the time.
Well, that was something at least. It earned a small smile from Abigail. "What're you up to now?"
Well, that was one wasted shower. "All yours," Noriko confirmed.
The smile Abigail gave her was just slightly sharp. "Then let's go see where we're starting from."
