Another afternoon on the smoker's porch brings about a welcome invitation. Backdated to Monday, November 26th.
She was happy for the quiet - and even happier for the cigarette that was tucked between her fingers.
One of her last, Lil knew she'd have to make a trip into Salem Center soon to buy more. But for now, the giantess was content to sit on the little stone porch around the back of the castle and soak in the silence as much as the nicotine.
A few moments later, Angelo came sauntering out of the school with the same idea in mind. It was a hell of a thing to get used to, not being able to smoke inside. He still thought that whoever was going around making rules and laws like that had to be completely out of their minds---and cruel. Definitely cruel.
"Yo, what's up girl?" Angelo greeted Lil with a nod.
Lil gave a shake of her head. "Not a damn thing. Bored, as usual. Avoiding homework and all that kinda shit. I'm so over all this learning stuff right now. I swear, I can't fit it all in my head," she grumbled before taking another hit from her cigarette.
As Angelo lit up, he gave a bit of a smirk before chuckling. "Yeah, tell me about it. That's one good thing about the holidays, at least, it that we don't have to deal with the class bullshit. Only thing about that that I'm looking forward to."
Because what was the point when you couldn't go home to see the fam anyway? Nothing. No fuckin' point at all. "You sticking around when class lets out, or are you heading back up north for awhile?"
"Staying here," she grumbled, flicking the ash of her cigarette onto the ground. "Dad's too busy and we're not really talking anyway so there's no point in going home." Except being alone. Which could be nice but Lil didn't have the money for a bus or train ticket let alone a plane and her father had made it quite clear he wasn't buying such a thing for her until she cleaned up her act. "What about you? You gonna be stuck here, too?"
"Don't have anywhere to go," Angelo admitted. In his case, he'd left L.A. because he'd been the last man standing in his gang and the rivals had him chased out on the threat that they'd harm his family if he didn't give up his turf. That meant leaving them for their own good and their safety, and Angelo did that without question. Family always came first, even before gang colours. "So I guess we're both stuck here. That's enough to make ya wanna drink, isn't it?"
Something hard, too.
"Oh God yes," she practically moaned. "My fake ID ain't worth shit here, either. Only says I'm nineteen which was good and all back home..." Lil's voice trailed off as she shook her head then sighed. "I haven't had anything 'cept cigarettes since getting here and it blows. Hard." So hard. Not that she needed alcohol but damn if she didn't want it even if it was just enough to get her out of the funk she was in for a night.
"Well I hear a couple of guys are heading out to a club on Saturday. You can get in underage, but can't buy any booze at the bar. It's worth a try, though, if ya ask me," Angelo informed her.
Henh. ID that says you're nineteen. Maybe he should have considered taking off to Canada! "All else fails, I have a good ID. I can buy you a couple if you wanna tag along?"
That caught her attention. If she were a dog, Lil's ears would have perked up. Instead, the giantess simply looked at the other mutant with wide, surprised eyes. "You ain't shitting me, right? People are actually going someplace where there is music and drinks and other people? And you're inviting me along?"
"Why not?" Angelo asked her, eyebrow raised and grin forming at the reaction.
"'Cause I ain't the most popular person here," she said with a snort though the smile she wore reached up to her hazel eyes and made them sparkle. "If there's room in the car, I'm so in. I need to get outta this place and just have some fun, you know?"
"To hell with popular, chica. Do I look like the kind of guy who gives one flying fuck about who's popular?" Angelo asked her, grinning right back and glad that she seemed interested. The school may have had their sweethearts and golden boys running around and having a barrel of laughs with one another, but the freaks and geeks deserved their own share of fun sometimes, too.
"We'll make sure there's room in the car. It'll be a fuckin' good time, si."
Lil drew in a long hit off her cigarette then exhales with a long, slow moan that was nearly ecstatic, complete with fluttering eyelashes. "I could really use a good time. This place is starting to get to me, I think." Classes. Homework. Simon. Paige. Everyone else who was stuck there. She wanted the loud music, blinding lights, alcohol in her veins and maybe even someone to dance with.
"Then ya better go and pick yourself up a good pair of dancing shoes, chica," Angelo drawled.
"Dress is more important. Shoes, I ain't got much of a choice with unless I want to be even taller," she pointed out with another smirk.
"Well I can't argue that. Way I see it, girl, you only live once, right? We just gotta make sure we make it count."
