Brian gives Lil her belated anniversary gift.

Something strange was going on.

Where Brian Braddock was usually a very confident (some might say egotistical) person on most days, today he was all but strutting like a peacock and Lil was completely lost as to why.

All she knew was that they were headed away from their room and his lab and gym... and just about everywhere else they usually spent time together in the school.

"I don't even get a hint where you're dragging me, Your Highness?" she teased as they weaved their way through the halls and down stairs - all with him smiling that damnable smug grin she adored.

"That would rather defeat the purpose of a 'surprise,' would it not?" Brian asked idly, as he tugged her down towards the garage.

"Hints are totally acceptable!" Lil laughed. "If you did something to my bike, Bri..."

He huffed. "I did not touch your motorbike. Come on, then. For someone so impatient, you move awfully slowly," he teased.

"Hey! Watch it or I'll make you carry me the rest of the way since you're complaining." She tugged back on his hand playfully.

"I am not complaining," Brian disagreed.

"Uh huh." Lil continued to grin as they walked, her excited vibrating becoming more and more pronounced the closet they got to the garage. "Is a horse and carriage ride?"

"A bit of a relic, isn't it?" He commented lightly. Horse and carriage rides bespoke a time before motor vehicles, and as traditional as Brian might sometimes be, he hardly believed in not taking advantage of scientific innovation once it was made.

She gave a one-shouldered shrug. "It's some big touristy thing. Or was. Carriage rides through the park. Seems to fit your whole Prince Charming persona. I don't pretend to know what goes on in your big brain." Fingers pulsed around his, letting him know she was just bantering.

"Prince Charming, am I?" He asked. Brian let go of her hand as they arrived to the doorway into the garage. He ushered her ahead of him with one hand at the small of her back, and gestured for her to open the door. "Then chivalry dictates, ladies first."

"Why do I feel like I should be scared something's gonna pop out at me?" Lil quipped, smirking at him over her shoulder before pushing open the door.

Nothing jumped out at her, however, but even so the giantess nearly stumbled when her eyes landed on the surprise Brian had orchestrated.

"I... It... You...." She blinked rapidly, completely overcome for a moment before turning to throw her arms around him.

Brian hugged her back briefly, before he let her go and directed her to turn again. "Go on. How can you possibly appreciate it properly from here?"

Lil let out a little squeal and darted across the room to where the brand new, dark green pickup truck was parked. "I can't believe you did this! Why did you do this?!" she asked with a laugh, circling the vehicle but not yet touching it.

"Our anniversary," he said, as though that explained it all.

She blinked at that. "Our... I got you paper, Brian! You got me a car!"

"There were papers involved," he pointed out. "Contracts, tax forms, ownership documents."

"That's so not the same thing!" Despite her protesting, it was obvious Lil loved the gift. Her eyes, wide and excited, kept flitting back and forth from the truck to him and once more to the vehicle. "It's... It's really mine?"

"It is precisely the same thing," Brian said in disagreement. "And it is truly yours. The papers are in your name, of course. You need only insure it, and you may do what you wish."

"I can't believe you did this!" Lil laughed again, shaking her head at him. "It's... beautiful. And huge. And perfect!"

He grinned, in what Brian thought was a winning fashion. "So. Happy anniversary." That was what one said, right, for the occasion? He'd never done this before.

Lil beamed again and opened the door of the cab to jump in and began marveling at the interior. It was massive; perfect for her long legs with space for a companion the size of Brian and keep them both comfortable.

Brian watched with a pleased sort of smile as she investigated her gift. She seemed so thrilled with it, how could he help his response?

Lil explored for a few moments, happy little sounds occasionally popping from her lips as she poked and touched and played with everything then looked up.
"Well, are you getting in?"

He chuckled. "I was waiting for an invitation," Brian said, as he opened the passenger-side door and took a seat. "It would be rude for me to simply enter your belongings without permission."

Rather than answer, she leaned over and kissed him long and hard.

He kissed her back for a long moment, enjoying the sensations, before he finally pulled back. "I will consider this my invitation, then."

"As far as I'm concerned, Your Highness, you got an open invitation," Lil answered with a grin, nuzzling his nose. "Should we take her out? Just close by?"

Brain kissed her cheek. "I will defer to you. It is, after all, yours to command."

"Oh, you might regret that," Lil warned before backing them out of the garage and heading out onto the grounds.
"Holy fuck, this truck is a dream!"

Brian did not bother buckling his seat-belt, he was invulnerable after all. Instead, he just turned to watch Lillian as she drove them out on to the grounds. "I am glad you like it."

"I love it," she corrected, taking them around the school. It was so unreal! He'd bought a truck for her! A massive, beautiful truck. "No one has ever done anything like this for me, Bri."

"Well, you deserve it," he assured her.

A smile was tossed in his direction - though it turned impish the moment before Lil gave the wheel a hard turn, driving them down a worn, dirt path with a holler of excitement.

Knowing one was invincible and internalizing it were two different matters entirely, and Brian only just managed to keep from damaging Lil's new vehicle with his grip when they made a hard turn. "Where are we going?"

"Off-roading," she cackled. "Parta the fun of a truck, Bri! And we got this whole big campus to play on..."

"Alright, then. Off-roading it is."

"Like you have a choice!"

-----

"See? It wasn't so bad." She'd parked out in the woods, not too far from the small lake she'd taken him skinny dipping in, then coaxed him into sitting in the bed of the truck with her. Arms around his middle and head resting contently on his shoulder, Lil didn't think she'd stopped smiling since first laying eyes on her gift.

"I shudder for the poor men who will have to detail this vehicle later," he teased dryly.

"Oh, pfft." Poking him the side, she chuckled into his throat. "Trucks are meant to get dirty, Bri. They're tough and strong and built to take it. And I ain't gonna be driving her out here that often."

"Her?" Brian cocked an eyebrow.

"Mm. Feels like a girl. Big broad - like her Momma."

He chuckled. "I suspect even you could not birth a truck."

The poke was harder this time. "You know that's not what I meant. You don't gotta be so literal all the time."

Brian smiled. "But I am good at it."

"Yeah yeah yeah." Taking a moment to nip at his jaw, Lil shifted, climbing into his lap to face his. "I know some other things you're pretty good at too, Your Highness."

"Do you?" Brian leaned forward to kiss her, long and slow. "Tell me about them."

She hummed, leaning into the kiss as her hands started to roam his chest. "I'd rather demonstrate, if that's okay with you?"
