After talking to Tessa, Simon goes to see Jensen.

Simon still was not sure what to make of everything that Tessa had told him, even after he had made it back to school. But there was one thing he was certain about: that he was behind Jensen. He made it to his friend's door and knocked, hoping that he would be in, with or without Shaun.

The knock came just in time for Jensen to pause the computer game he’d been playing at a particularly creepy cutscene. It was probably time to take a break anyway; he’d been playing for a few hours now. “Come in.” he called and then opened the door with his telekinesis.

"Hi," Simon greeted him as he walked in, and turned to close the door behind him. "Is this a good time?" he asked, looking back at Jensen - and then at the freezeframe on Jensen's computer.

“Yeah, it’s fine,” Jensen answered, closing his laptop. “It was about time I took a break anyway.” He turned his chair around to face Simon and then pulled Shaun’s computer chair out with a gesture from his hand. “Have a seat, dude.”

"Thanks," Simon stated, a little awkward, and took the offered seat, laying his hands flat on his thighs. "I'm - just back from talking to Sage." He assumed that he ought to say more straight away. "We ought to tell people what she was doing, in general - and what she did to you, if you want. But you should know that she's no longer doing it. She said that Barbara was in charge of that, now? I want to talk to her about that."

Jensen blinked, surprised. After his talk with Simon, he’d figured that was that. He hadn’t expected him to come back and agree with him. “I, um--Yeah, I still want to tell people. She might not be doing it anymore, but she was and people have a right to know. And if Barbara is doing what Tessa was going, they have a right to know that too.”

“What did Tessa say to you?” That Jensen had to know. He couldn’t help but wonder, stomach churning sickeningly, if she’d told Simon details about the blackmail.

"A lot of things," Simon stated, frowning. He was still trying to process it all. "I don't know if she really doesn't see it as blackmail, or if she was just trying to make me see it as something else." It was part of why he thought that people ought to know; she did not own up to it, and that made it even worse.

Tessa had refused to call it blackmail during Jensen’s talk with her too, and Shaun had implied she’d done the same with him. “It’s blackmail either way,” he said. “And no matter what she was still monitoring on students without their permission.”

"I told her as much," Simon nodded in agreement to both points. "She thinks that the end justifies the means. But it's too dangerous, letting people do things like this without any accountability."

Jensen nodded. Dangerous was probably even an understatement for the shit storm of fucked-uppery something like that could produce. “What else did she say?”

Simon paused briefly to consider where to go to next. "That the - 'not-blackmail' was mostly about keeping another student's secret? And that a lot of people knew what she was doing anyway? That she doesn't care if we tell people." Not that he had been there to get her blessing. Or a job opportunity. And yet he had apparently gotten both? He still wasn't sure whether the latter was any more welcome than the former.

“Bullshit,” Jensen replied with a scoff. “She didn’t blackmail me to protect anything but herself. I never would have told anyone that student’s secret. I told her that and I told the student that. And! I only told the student I knew in the first place so said student would know about it.” He couldn’t really comment on the rest (though the fact that she had blackmailed him for so long should probably indict it was BS too), but that was just fucking ridiculous.

Simon nodded, to indicate that he believed Jensen. He wasn't surprised; since Sage had refused to acknowledge it as blackmail, it wasn't surprising that she would have had just as unique a take on the rest of the circumstances surrounding it. "I'll go and talk to Barbara tomorrow. Then we'll know where we now stand?"

“Sure,” Jensen agreed with a nod. He’d waited this long, what was one day more? “Let me know if you want me to come with you.”

"I'll be alright," Simon told Jensen with a small, grateful smile. Barbara was a lot less intimidating than Sage; then again, not even Lydia was quite as intimidating as Sage, if you asked him.

Jensen nodded, “Okay. Offer still stands if you change your mind though.”

Simon nodded. "Thanks." He still wasn't sure how to feel about the offer of employment - to be a cameraman and moral compass? - so he kept it to himself, for now. After he figured it out for himself, he would talk to his friends about it.

“No problem,” Jensen replied. He paused a moment, then added somewhat awkwardly, “Thank you.”

Simon wasn't sure what Jensen was thanking him for, so he just smiled a little awkwardly. "You're welcome."
