Jean-Paul and Victor, backdated to the Cast Party May 10th
At the cast party, Vic and Vance eventually managed to get back to the party and Vic immediately bumps into Jean-Paul who seems to enjoy teasing the tipsy star of the show.
They’d twice agreed to return to the party and then gotten thoroughly side-tracked before Victor and Vance finally actually made it back out to the proper party. They split up, deciding that entering together might be suspicious, and Victor headed in first. He wasn’t exactly walking straight but he was walking upright with a drink in hand as he hummed along happily to the music. He was more than a little rumpled but figured that was excusable, this was a party and there was alcohol around so there were plenty of explanations for the rumpledness really.
Jean-Paul had drifted off toward the bonfire and was contemplating his exit. This really wasn't Lydia's scene and Simon had already begged off to go back to studying. He'd been hoping to congratulate Victor on the play, but the other boy had vanished at some point and didn't seem likely to make an appearance any time soon. Presently, Jean-Paul had been trying to decide between tracking him down out of concern or just sending a text.
Fortunately, Victor saved him from having to make a decision by popping up at the last moment. Jean-Paul jogged over.
"Hey! Where did you get to?"
"Nowhere." Victor told him quickly, still beaming like a loon. "I've been around, you know, just hanging." he unconsciously smoothed his rumpled shirt a little. 'I didn't worry you, did I?" Jean-Paul had kind of run at him after all. "Sorry!' he did mean it even though he was still grinning.
Considering that Victor was radiating contentment like some small, beatific sun, Jean-Paul doubted that, but he wasn't about to say so out loud.
"I was about to take off, actually. I just wanted to congratulate you again."
"Leaving? So soon?" The younger boy really couldn't hide the disappointment there and didn't even attempt to. It was insanely early to be thinking of leaving the party. "Congratulate me on what?" He hadn't done anything yet, well except give Vance the beginnings of some soon-to-be-spectacular hickies.
Jean-Paul shook his head. "Your humility is adorable and dismaying. You know this play forward, backward and sideways. More than that, you're excellent -- you're going to steal the show out from under the attention whores that are your classmates. The play is just a formality at this point."
"Oh, um thanks." Victor's smile became an embarrassed one as he shifted from foot to foot. "Hopefully it'll all go well, starting to get pretty nervous about it to be honest but I think everyone's doing great." He wasn't so sure about himself but, well, when you're having dreams that the playwright is coming from the grave to heckle your performance it was a little hard to have total faith in yourself.
"Just because they are doing well doesn't mean you shouldn't get your share of congratulations." Jean-Paul sighed in mock dismay. "Really, Victor, if you are going to be an actor, we are going to have to work on inflating your ego."
"Once I have a successful play under my belt then I'll totally have a reason for an ego, don't you think?" The green boy suggested with a grin.
"Oh, if you insist on actually proving yourself first, then fine," Jean-Paul said with an exaggerated sigh.
Victor laughed a little took a big glug of his drink. Vodka was definitely his favourite alcohol so far.
"I do things by the book, don't you know?" he beamed up at Jean-Paul before looking around the party subtly, he hoped, just to see what Vance was up to.
Jean-Paul followed the other boy's gaze, more curious than anything else...then grinned as he saw that Victor's attention was on the equally rumpled Vance. "You could do worse," he said innocently.
"If you've proved yourself people don't seem to mind the ego so much." Victor agreed, assuming they were still on that topic after all he was being oh so very subtle.
"Very true. Though I was speaking more of the blond that seems to have captured your attention."
"Vance is my best friend. One of." Was grinned back by the younger boy "He's great." They hadn't said it was a secret but Victor was still torn for a moment about how much or little he should say. He had no idea what was going on, not really.
"Not a bad place to start from," Jean-Paul said. "Are you both enjoying yourselves?"
Victor tried not to laugh but ended up making a weird snorty noise that finished in tipsy giggles. "Mmmhmmm." He supplied, his gaze darting back to Vance who was laughing too though at something Bobby was telling him. "Kissing is fun." Victor then suddenly announced and not for the first time that evening.
Oh, yes. This was entirely too much temptation for a mere mortal boy to resist. "Victor, are you offering me a kiss?"
The younger boy eyes went comically wide in shock as he looked up at Jean-Paul "No, no, I wouldn't, coz Simon and you and so I didn't mean. I wouldn't, I just meant, um. Nothing." He rambled, his cheeks heating up even more from embarrassment.
"I am just having you on, Victor," Jean-Paul assured him. "But I am glad you're figuring that out. You cannot let me go catching up to you in experience, non?"
"I highly doubt I'm ahead of you." Victor was completely clueless, after all he'd only just had his first real kiss that night.
"In some areas more than others." Jean-Paul shrugged and cast a quick look around the area. There was music playing off by the bonfire, loud enough to carry. "Either way, I am glad things are looking better."
"Maybe," and for a moment Victor's expression was almost serious "He likes to tell people he's straight though but yeah," Grin was start to come back already though. "That's future Victor's problem, I just wanna dance and have fun and maybe get another drink." And maybe grab Vance again but that didn't need to be said, did it?
God, he really was adorable.
"Well, I cannot help with the drink, but maybe a dance?"
Victor nodded happily deciding that was something Simon totally wouldn't mind, after all everyone was dancing. "Sounds great to me." He agreed before hastily finishing his drink so as not to lose or waste any of it.
Jean-Paul shrugged mentally and smiled outwardly. At least Victor seemed to know what he wanted so long as he was allowed to get tispy first. Jean-Paul sketched a playful bow and offered his hand to Victor, letting the lizard boy set the pace.
Victor was fine with dancing, dancing he could do without being awkward. Drama club back his old school had had parties and stuff plenty so dancing with friends he could totally do. Dancing with a date like person he'd be clueless, he was sure but that wasn’t what this was so he was ok.
The playlist was the usual sort of stuff he heard Pietro and Curtis playing day to day, so he was soon moving happily to the beat and even singing along a little bit. Maybe a little more carefree than usual but, hey, he was having fun.
Jean-Paul grinned and bounced lightly in time with Victor's movements. "You should be flattered. You're the first boy I've danced with tonight."
"And you should be flattered that the star of the show agreed to dance with you!" Victor grinned up at the older boy, well Jean-Paul did say he wanted more ego!
That earned him a delighted laugh and a speedster at the end of his arm. "How true! I forgot where I was for a moment."
"Well, you better not again." Was warned with a mock frown before the green boy laughed again, still dancing happily. This was way way better than freaking out about the show.
