Abigail and Natasha, Sunday Afternoon
Abby and Natasha meet and immediately bond over the chance to hit things.
Natasha glanced around as she headed for the Danger Room. She'd been told that it was only to be used with a partner, not on her own, and she wasn't going to break that rule. Quite. She just wanted to figure the room out, to see how it worked. Maybe to see if she could get some information from it.
It wasn't hacking if you didn't get caught.
She slipped in the door to the room just in time to see...someone else in there. Well, that could have worked out better. The other girl had bright green hair, and had no partner in sight. "I thought we were supposed to have a second in this room," Natasha said.
"And," Abigail said without looking over, her attention still on the control panel, "I am clearly not in the room yet, am I?" Once she'd finished whatever she was inputting, she glanced over her shoulder. Huh. New girl. "You need something?
Natasha shook her head. "Just looking around," she said idly, as though unconcerned.
Abigail cocked an eyebrow at the other girl. "Sounded like you'd been down here before."
"Oh, I've been in the room itself, just not up here. Thought I'd come take a look," Natasha explained, or half-explained, sounding more innocently curious than anything else.
The eyebrow just hiked itself higher, but Abigail gestured at the control panel. "What'd you want to see?"
"How to work it. So I can maybe run some sims," Natasha said. That was a pretty average reason, she suspected, for looking around the room.
One side of Abigail's mouth tipped up. "Looking to punch some things?"
Natasha smirked. "I could be. Are you?"
"Almost always," Abigail said, the expression widening into a full smirk. "Abigail, by the way."
"Natasha," the redhead returned in-kind. "Nice to meet you. So, how do I set it up so we can punch some things?"
Abigail grinned a little and gestured her over to the control panel. "Here," she said, scrolling through the menus. "Most of the situations are preset. You can make your own, but that's a lot more work."
Natasha watched closely as she sidled up next Abigail and the control panel. She wondered if Philip would show her more about it, like making her own, if she asked, or if she was still untrustworthy enough that he wouldn't want to show her a backdoor to the school's systems. "Have you made your own?"
"Couple small things," she agreed. "I don't have the patience for the huge, involve scenarios for the most part. None of it's real, so what's the point?"
She nodded. "So, which one should we try?"
"You tell me, newbie," Abigail said, and shifted to the side to let the other girl see the list.
Natasha leaned in, and read the list over quickly. Finally, she pointed at one and tapped the screen gently. "That one."
Abigail leaned over to see which one Natasha had picked, then nodded approvingly. "Good choice. Wanna go in now or see if someone else is around?"
"We can go in now." Natasha was already running through ho
"Fair enough," Abigail said with a nod, and gestured for the other girl to go in ahead of her. "So what do you do?"
"Electricity." She'd learned quickly that a short, if vague, answer usually stopped more specific questions more readily than her silence would. "You?"
Abigail flashed her a grin. "Fire. So this should be interesting."
Fire? Well, Abigail had hit that nail on the head. Interesting, definitely. Dangerous, too; they would have each be careful of the other. "Interesting sounds like an understatement."
Her grin widened even farther. If Natasha had the skills her stance was hinting at, Abigail was pretty sure that this was going to be a damn good session. "Well I've always been more of a fan of show than tell."
Natasha gestured for the other girl to lead the way.
