Sirius goes looking for Jay and finds his boyfriend's new room-mate instead.

Sirius headed along the familiar corridor automatically. It was a little funny being back here after gradating and moving out but not bad funny, not when he was here to surprise Jay.

He'd taken Jay out a lot in London but he'd relised maybe he'd gone the wrong route. Dinners in fancy places, nights out with the Chelsea gang and attending premieres and so on had seemed a great idea to wow him but belatedly he'd realised that maybe he'd overwhelmed Jay. So today he'd decided that while he wanted to take Jay out, they'd go to a cute lil place off the beaten track and definitely away from the paps. Just him and Jay.

Knocking on the door, he called out. "Hey baby, couldn't keep away for long."

There was a rustling behind the door, and then it opened. Instead of Jay, it was a tall bald kid with funny looking ears. Solas blinked at him, without recognition, or any sign of being starstruck. "Hello," he said, in a baritone voice. It was obvious from his accent he was Welsh.

"Hello," Sirius was obviously surprised but got over it quickly. "I think it goes without saying that I expected someone else. Is Jay home?"

It all clicked. Jay had mentioned his boyfriend when they went to the bank earlier that day, and the face was familiar. Solas hadn't had TV at home, but he didn't live under a rock either. "No, he's not. I am not sure where he is. You must be Sirius, then." Solas grinned a little. "Pleased to make your acquaintance." He offered his hand out to shake.

Sirius accepted the immediately and shook it "That's me," He confirmed with a grin, wondering what Jay had been saying about him. "Sorry, I seem to have missed the new room-mate memo, what can I call you?"

"My name is Solas. Solas Fen'harel." Solas stepped aside to clear the threshold. "Would you like to come in?  Solas' bed was visible from the doorway. It had piles of neatly folded clothes on it.

"Thanks," Sirius came in the room with obvious familiarity and sat down on Jay's bed comfortably. A new person had brought new smells to the room but there was enough of Jay's scent still that it didn't feel like a completely different room. Then again, Sirius had known the room when Jack Harkness had been the only occupier and a lot of changes had a happened since then. "Been here long?"

"No, not long at all. I just arrived today," Solas said, moving a pile of clothes to clear a space on his bed for himself. "Jay is here in the abstract sense; he was kind enough to take me to the bank earlier."

"He's a sweetie like that," He nodded with a affectionate smile at the thought of his new boyfriend. "Any clue when he'll be back? Not that it isn't lovely to meet you, I was just hoping to take him out to dinner, see."

"I haven't the foggiest," Solas said. "But, I don't think he has eaten, or was getting food, so at least he will be hungry when he gets back. Where were you planning on taking him?"

"Just a cute little place on the edge of the city." He'd found his way there but wasn't overly clear on the area names of New York just yet. "Italian, candle lit, all the romance stuff. Hopefully he'll like it."

"Sounds like it'll be a nice time. Did you make reservations?" Solas stretched and yawned. Jetlag was catching up to him.

"No, just winging it." Sirius explained, looking over him in concerned "Want to nap? I can go play  tracker dog and leave you be?"

Solas finished his stretch and relaxed, his arms hanging heavy off his broad shoulders. "If you wish, although it's probably more efficient if you stayed. Is he not answering his phone?" That reminded Solas he needed to get one of those. His parents probably wanted to hear from him, although an e-mail would also suffice.

"Hadn't tried, got sidetracked by you. Interesting things distract me but, like I was saying, I can bugger off if you need to snooze." He assured the other boy with a smile and a shrug.

Solas grinned back at Sirius' charismatic comment. It was also not lost on him that pre-teen girls the world over would have murdered him in cold blood for the chance to exchange words with this young man, especially if he was this smooth in person. "It is good to hear that I am interesting," he said, with a flicker of a laugh. He consolidated two piles of clothes into a plastic bin. "What's it like, being such a well-known figure? Do you not get tired of it? Ever want to run away? Or is that why you're here, perhaps."

Sirius's eyebrows momentarily rose, he hadn't expected Solas to ask things like that when he'd had made no indication of knowing him as anything but Jay's boyfriend, but smiled again as he shrugged "It's my life, it's brought me a lot of great experiences and I'm very fortunate to benefit from it so I hardly feel I can complain. Do I wish sometimes I had more privacy? Sure, but I know how to get it these days. And yeah, this place helped and it's also why I want to take Jay to a quiet little place tonight. I don't feel like sharing him tonight." He flashed a wider grin.

"That's a good answer," Solas said, lifting his bin off his bunk and setting it on the floor. "Just don't shave your head. The girls won't like it." Solas chuckled at his own joke, as he laid down on his bunk. "It must be absolutely fascinating. But performing must also be exhausting." Solas looked incredibly weary, as if suddenly his fatigue hit him with its full force, and his own act couldn't continue. "Someone as genuine as Jay must be very refreshing for you. It's fortunate you have him to take refuge with," he said, closing his eyes.

Having playfully flipped his hair at the shaving head comment, he then pushed himself up to sitting. "He's very special, I love him." There was a still certain amount thrill he felt in admitting that. "And I want to give him everything he deserves, hence my attempt at sweeping him off his feet. Anyway, shall I let you be?"

A moment, then two passed without an answer. Once the silence settled, the only sound was even, steady, deep diaphragmatic breathing. Solas was already asleep, hands behind his head as he lay on his back, pulling his black tee-shirt up just past his belt, exposing a swath of his pale tummy that rose and fell as he inhaled and exhaled.

Sirius smiled and murmured "Sweet dreams." Before seeing himself out. He knew Jay's scent so well, it wouldn't take long to find him.
