Sirius and Pietro, May 17

Sirius hatches a plan for mutant and proud models--and Pietro is ready to help!

With Pietro living off campus and Sirius's schedule it could be hard to catch the guy, so when Sirius spotted him solo in the dinner hall he made his approach.

"Mind if I bend your ear a minute, mate?" He asked as he took a seat at the table with him.

"My ear is yours." Pietro waved a forkful of mac and cheese at him. "For a minute. What you got for me, sweet cheeks?"

"So, here's the thing," He grabbed the ketchup as he spoke, getting straight to it. No point in beating around the bush, as it were. "This photographer I've worked with plenty over the years has been making noise about doing a photo series on mutants ever since I came out and I was kinda resistant because I didn't want it to turn into a whole baseline folk making money off the mutants thing but with the birth of SHIFT I've started thinking a little differently."

He paused to dunk a chip in sauce and munch on it. "Basically, I'm thinking we could use it potentially as a mutant pride thing. Me and some others were talking about how the out mutants are kinda giving hope and shit to other mutant kids out there and if the photo series was used by mutants for mutants, like say us, I think it could be really cool rather than exploitative. Thoughts?"

"I like it," Pietro said, looking impressed. "So long as we get a good amount of mutants of color and people with physical mutations in, it could end up being a great feature--I mean, if you're talking about running it in SHIFT?"

"Of course, I want it in mutant and trustworthy hands, who else would I come to but my favourite editor?" Sirius grinned widely as he laid on the flattery thick. "And definitely we want good representation, I already know Jay will be up for it and Faiza. I'm thinking a special feature, maybe get each model to talk about their experiences or manifestation or whatever they want to put out there. And at the photographer's end he'll probably want to do a gallery exhibition which gives SHIFT a sponsorship opportunity. Good for exposure to be seen collabing with big names."

He'd been thinking this over for a while and trying to come up with ways they could use it to benefits mutants and their group there at the school as much as possible. From Pietro and SHIFT to people like Jay who's family could really benefit from the money opportunities that could come from this.

"It could be its own issue," Pietro said thoughtfully, tapping his fingers superspeed against his own thigh.

"Oh yeah?" Sirius grinned widely, he hadn't expecting that though he'd hoped a little. "And I could relying on you to model too, can't I?"

"Are you kidding? I would be so hurt if I wasn't featured." Pietro grinned right back.

"Glad to hear it, I'm thinking if we leave it open for anyone to apply who's out or wants to come out, maybe loop Lydia in for any of the latter. Beyond that I guess it's see what response we get as to whether it's a few pages or a special issue, you know?" He hoped it would attract a lot of interest but not everyone was a whore for the camera like he was, or so he was often told.

"Totally. Oh, and we should maybe get multiple photographers. See if Mr. Jinadu or Pete want to do something, too. They could all work together, maybe." Pietro hummed softly. Too bad they didn't have any out mutant photographers, but hey.

"And if it's popular," The gears in Sirius's brain were turning. "I know a gallery owner or two in New York from filming Chelsea, a gallery collection could sell off prints and stuff. It's big exposure, sure, but it could make the models and photographers a fair bit of money. Or we could go the other way and make in a SHIFT charity drive for mutants in need."

"Some kind of SHIFT outreach program, maybe," Pietro said thoughtfully. "I could talk to the old man and see what kind of needs he's run into. Or some of the kids who spent time on the street--Noriko, Bigby, that kind of thing. They might have some good ideas."

"And the kids who've been disowned and stuff, not like me but the ones who don't have a safety net." Disowned or not he'd had support and back up that weren't available to most. "That sort of thing, good thought. Great, I'm loving the idea even more. So, first thing I gotta put the word out on the journals and see how many are up for it, right?"

Pietro was sure one of the kids would have a pet project or ideas, so he filed that in the 'check out immediately' department in his brain. "Wonder if we should arrange that before we start recruiting our beautiful mutants. Seems weird to do it in the other order--like we're trying to get people into something without laying it all out." He chuckled.

"Ok, right, horse before cart." He nodded a little and grinned as he joked "Don't let me plan things, eh?"

"Your enthusiasm makes up for your lack of planning," Pietro assured him with a return grin. "And anything else--hell, you're pretty enough to make up for that, too."

"You flirt, you," Sirius accused, playfully preening.

"Always," Pietro practically chirped. "Okay, here's the deal. I'll start talking to some of the others about potential ways to direct all this momentum--and hopefully money. You can talk to your friends, but don't make a larger call for pretty until we know what direction we're going.

"Meanwhile, that just sounded like I'm trying to take over your project, but I'm not." Pietro grimaced.

"No, no, it's not mine sweetie, it's ours now. We're working together, it's why I came to you." Sirius reassured immediately.

"You're a prince," Pietro said. "In the genuine sense, not the old asshole family sense." Sirius had given up that princely claim years ago, and Pietro loved him for it.

Sirius blew a kiss playfully, "Why thank you, now I'm gonna spend some of the summer holidays in London because work but I'm thinking maybe we can use vacation for this too if you're up for it. I'll make myself as available and flexible as possible, the photoshoots themselves would only take a weekend at a push so it's the prep work that'll take the time." And the organizing of course, the thing that he's already shown to be his weak point.

"Anything you need, I'll provide if I can from funds to connections to whatever. I'm a resource, use and abuse me partner!" He couldn't help himself, he was excited and, besides, Pietro always brought the flirt out in him.

Pietro was loving it, of course. He clapped his hands together. "Always was one of your finer qualities!"

"I thought all my qualities were fine!" He joked right back./cut>
