Jean-Paul and Alison, backdated to Halloween
JP and Alison talk at the party.
It was the beginning of the night, and Alison had yet to do her performance for the party. She always liked to sing for these when she was asked, usually putting together new and funky shows for the school to see. She'd wear different clothing, she'd sing different songs--and tonight she had a couple of Halloween ones she was planning to do. The great thing about her powers was that she could use them to match the theme if she wanted, and tonight she was planning for a lot of dark coloured lights within her bright ones. Lots of reds, oranges and blacks to keep up with the Halloween vibe. Though, the light surrounding her body now were anything but dark. As usual, she had a variety of rainbow coloured sparkles shimmering across her skin.
Before her performance, Alison decided that it would be a good idea to grab a drink, and since it would be awhile until she was to sing, she really wasn't in any rush about it. Upon approaching the refreshment table, she noticed that Jean-Paul was also there, so she decided to say hello. She hadn't gotten a chance to talk to him much since their announcement to the world, so perhaps now would be a good time to catch up.
"Hiya," she greeted. "Enjoying yourself?"
Jean-Paul had come as Dracula this year to Simon's John Harker, his dark hair slicked back and his skin powdered to a deathly pallor. He looked up from his contemplation of the punch bowl and offered her a sly sort of smile.
"I'm rotten, of course. How about you?"
"It's been fine so far. I get to sing, so I won't complain," Alison mused, and shot Jean-Paul a small smile. For the party, Alison had finally decided to come dressed up as a referee, so her costume was very different in comparison to Jean-Paul's. While he was dark and pale, she was bubbly and bright. Her blonde hair was down in pigtails, and her makeup was a bit bold.
"I like your costume---very classic," she commented as she got herself a drink. She loved all kinds of costumes, but a lot of the classic Halloween ones were always nice to see.
That, at least, got a more genuine smile and a sweeping bow. "Merci, madame. Though I confess, I was shamelessly bribed by a certain boy with a very attractive neck."
"I can see why you had to take that bribe. Boyfriends can be so encouraging like that sometimes," Alison grinned. She'd considered trying to talk Angelo into a costume theme at first, but then he just had to put on a suit! That visual had killed any desire to change his mind via costumes. "How long have you two been together now?"
"Well...living together or 'he admits we're together' together?"
"He admits you're together together," Alison replied.
"About a year?" Jean-Paul considered. "A bit less than a year. I guess I should start thinking about anniversary stuff." Though the idea wasn't the most appealing; the idea of Simon going blank and rigid on him again made his stomach clench.
"Well congratulations," Alison told him with a tiny smile. It was nice to see people in the school in healthy relationships, and long lasting ones at that. "Think you'll go away somewhere nice for your anniversary?"
"'Nice', maybe. Cheap, definitely. I could always take him home to Montreal for a few days, though." Jean-Paul considered. "He might like that."
"Well hopefully if you go, you'll at least have a peaceful visit together," Alison spoke. "I'm sure a guy like you can avoid the paparazzi easy when you go out anywhere."
Doing so with Jeanne-Marie was always a tad easier than doing it on her own, after all. Hanging out with a speedster had a lot of perks when it came to stuff like that.
"When it is just me? Yes. Unfortunately, Simon is not so fond of flying. Or having his dignity mangled." Jean-Paul rolled a shrug across his shoulders with no-care grace. "We will figure something out. In the meantime, how are you and Angelo doing?"
"We've been doing pretty good! Our one year anniversary is tonight, actually," Alison replied. She knew they weren't going to do anything super expensive, really, and that was okay. Alison didn't expect that, actually. All she wanted was a nice time with Angelo, and a little sentimental fun. "We're not doing anything super huge, or anything to celebrate, but he is in a suit, and that's an anniversary present worth millions to me."
"Congratulations." Jean-Paul half-smiled. "There was a time I thought he would not stay so long, but I guess he had quite an incentive."
"With Angelo, you can never really predict him. He acts so cool and macho, but he's also a very happy guy, too," Alison replied, sounding amused. "However, I think it's safe to say he hasn't stuck around for the homework."
Getting him to do it was always difficult, she'd found.
Jean-Paul laughed. "As if anyone would!" He paused, then considered. "Well, maybe a few would. The crazed geniuses. We're such an odd group, non?"
"We really are. Geniuses, rich kids, celebrities, kids from families who reunite years later," Alison mused, and let out a small laugh. "But the school would be weird without that aspect to it, don't you think?"
The differences made it interesting and fun, after all.
Jean-Paul chuckled. "And when weird becomes normal...well, I think we're there already."
"Totally, because I'm betting normal is totally weird for us, too," Alison commented. "One day someone's going to come here and completely blow us away with normalcy and we'll actually have to adjust to it."
