Alison and Josh, Backdated to Friday
Alison and Josh share a dance at the cast party.
Alison was making her way around the party, wanting to visit with her friends that were in the play. She loved seeing people get involved in the arts, so she was absolutely thrilled to see her friends taking such interest in them (and excited about seeing the play). When she caught sight of Josh, she decided to approach him. Josh was such a nice guy, and Alison loved that he was in the play. With his looks, Alison thought he'd be able to excel in acting or even modeling someday. Maybe when mutants were known and accepted by the world, at least.
"Hey, sweetie," she greeted him with a smile, her sparkles surrounding her as usual. "Having fun?"
"Blast," Josh answered with a grin, and moved so he was standing more in front of Alison.
The play had been a fair bit of work; Josh didn't have a main role, but he did have multiple roles so he'd had several parts to memorize, plenty of costume changes, and various lines. For him, nothing felt as good as patting yourself on the back for your accomplishments, so a party had been a perfect idea! Though Pietro seemed to provide that often, didn't he?
"What about you? Didja manage to drag your boytoy along with you?"
"I'm totally loving the party, and yes, I did have the bonus of managing to bring my guy along with me," Alison grinned. Usually, she didn't have a problem getting Angelo to go to parties. It was the fancy parties like the Braddock's birthday that meant having to bribe him a little, but that was okay! He was usually a good sport. "What about you? Did you get your boyfriend to leave the art room for just a few minutes of fun?"
Lucky girl; Josh smiled at the way Alison seemed so satisfied with her date tonight. However, he shook his head at her question. "No, I didn't get him to come along. He did do a bunch of painting for the play, but he didn't feel the need to celebrate it. He's just like that."
But maybe Josh would feel ready to bring him along to the next party. Maybe. It had gotten to the point now where a good number of people had known about them being together, so Josh was thinking that he was almost to the point of braving a public date. However, he also acknowledged that just because he felt ready for something like that didn't mean that Kevin would like the idea. It was worth a shot, though?
"Well. To be fair, it's not like we've exactly come out to everyone yet."
"Just do it when you're ready," Alison told him. She knew Josh had struggled with that stuff, and that pushing a person into being open about it was really not a way to help move things along. Josh had to go at his own pace, and so did Kevin. "And then you get to that place, you can drag him to parties, and totally make out with him in the corner."
Alison shot Josh a grin at that. That was a fun thing about bringing significant others to parties--sometimes you got to do that! Depending on what the party was, of course.
"You and your charm will get him to a party someday, I know it."
"I think I'd be more impressed if I got him to dance with me," Josh replied cheekily and lips spreading into a full on grin. "Don't know if it'd be a disaster or totally hot, but the idea feels good in my head."
"Oh, you know it'd be totally hot once you got into it. Dancing is so fun," Alison beamed. She really loved to hear Josh like this; it was obvious he had made quite a bit of progress on the subject. "Good excuse for being up and close with him, yeah?"
Yeah, Josh had made quite a bit of progress in comparison to how he'd been back in January. A lot of that had to do with the time going by and how nice things had, surprisingly, been with Kevin. However, some of it had to do with people like Pietro, Jean-Paul, Alison, and Victor being kind and supportive of him. It was getting better, and Josh wanted to keep getting better, as discussed.
"Believe me, I get close with him plenty." Josh smirked. "But...yeah, any excuse is good. A public one is just exciting even if it is scary, do you know what I mean?"
"There's something special about it," Alison agreed. Maybe she didn't know the kind of fear Josh would due to her being straight, but she did know the excitement that came with a little PDA. "It's just like, you get to show off to the whole world how much you like someone, and it's so incredible."
Alison loved that feeling.
There was no need to rush to get there, Josh knew that. Jean-Paul had made it plenty clear to him that it was okay to be more out once he was ready and that rushing it didn't make things better and simpler anyhow. However, Josh was looking forward to that time when he would be okay with things...he really did want it. It'd been over four months since he'd hooked up with Kevin and soon there would come a day when, like Alison said, Josh would want people to know that he was happy.
"Yeah, that's exactly it," Josh mused with a grin. "I know it's more complicated now, but I've never been used to hiding. I'm probably no good at keeping secrets anyway! Hell, you figured me out pretty quickly, Ali."
"That I did, but I think you just wear your heart on your sleeve is all," Alison laughed, and nodded along. She hoped it wouldn't be a long time until Josh would feel ready to do that, though, because he deserved the same rights as anyone else. He deserved being able to make his affection for the person he cared for known, just like she did! "Nothing wrong with that. I'm a little bit the same, you know."
"Well damn all of the mysterious and secretive people, then! I'm jealous." Josh laughed and then set down his drink. "Is that so bad?"
"It's so not. There's only so much fun in being mysterious," Alison mused. "You can't be secretive and mysterious forever, right? Something's got to give at some point, right? Everyone opens up eventually~"
"Yeah, well, until then..." he trailed off and casually nodded his head toward where the others had been dancing around. "Think your boyfriend would mind if I stole you for a dance or two?"
"Not at all," Alison assured, and held her hand out to take his, letting her sparkles surround him as she led them towards the dancing area. She loved dancing, and she always tried to dance with as many people as possible. Though Alison was a professional, there was something extra alluring about dancing at parties. It was all the fun without the added work, it seemed. "I think I'd have a problem if he did! Do you know how many people I have to dance with for my career sometimes?"
Josh grinned and took his friend's hand to pull her out to where there was some more free space in the grass, falling right into the quick, bumpy rhythm of the music. While he wasn't the pro that she was, Josh still loved to dance and wasn't shy about letting loose at a party. It was either innocent, good fun or dirty, sexy fun and there was nothing wrong with either!
"I guess you're right about that! Looks like you lucked out then," Josh laughed. "Not that he didn't either. Can't guess how many people there might be out there who'd kill to dance with you, Sparkles."
"I suppose, but there's only a small percent that I can actually sparkle for," Alison grinned, turning her golden glow on so she could match Josh. She loved doing that around him, as her light always bounced off of him and made for this shiny and amazing spectacle to watch. If Alison had backup dancers that looked like Josh, she was pretty sure her whole audience would be blinded in the most amazing way. "And only one person that I can totally be a matched set with, Sunshine."
Josh was definitely on her list of favourite people to dance with, that was for sure. It was for a lot of shallow reasons, yeah, but Alison also thought he was a fairly good dancer, too. No professional, but he knew how to let loose and have fun.
"Have I ever told you that you have fucking incredible taste?"
"I think so," Alison laughed. "But right back at you. Only the most skilled of people could have gold skin and have it so their clothes never clash."
"I'm taking that as a compliment," Josh teased, but who wouldn't? "I knew there was a reason I kept you around..."
"You better take it as a compliment, mister," Alison teased him right back. "I am so serious about that model thing. Keep it in mind just in case, mmmkay?"
Josh really did like modeling for Kevin, if he was honest, and he wasn't exactly shy about showing off either. There was that eensy, weensy problem with the whole gold skin thing and the fact that no one was allowed to see that. The thought was still nice, though, and maybe worth having if people stopped being dicks someday soon.
"Fine, but you better consider me for an album cover!"
"I so would. Can you imagine us together on album cover art?" Alison mused happily. "The CD would outshine every other one in the section on our glows alone, and people would totally want your autograph."
Well that didn't sound so bad! It got a smirk out of Josh, and he pretended to give it some thought. "Just pieces of paper or people's bodies? Because that right there may decide on how fun autograph signing might be."
"A little from column A and a little from column B," Alison assured with a chuckle. "It's all part of show business, sweetie."
"Well I doubt I'll get that treatment outta this show coming up, but at least you've given me some hope in the world." Josh grinned and kissed Ali on the cheek. "And I got to steal a dance out of you, so I think that all is right in Josh Foley Land."
"I sure hope so," Alison said, and patted the side of his face affectionately. Hey if she could give anyone a little hope, then Alison Blaire was happy. "And maybe at the next party, your hopeful little self might have a moody little artist on your arm~."
"Here's to hoping!"
Alison was making her way around the party, wanting to visit with her friends that were in the play.
