Anders and Simon, Backdated 3/24/2013

Anders' wounds are infected and he ends up in the infirmary, seeking a little bit of help.(This entry has not been backdated because DW is being weird.)

Anders had been doing his best to keep a low profile since undoing the whole Nathan/Simon thing. He didn't know if it had gotten around school yet or not, or whether people would blame him or not for that one since he hadn't actually been able to predict the crazy shit that the Irish dick had pulled.

He was getting ready to shower and removing the bandage on his hand when it occurred to him that healing wounds just weren't supposed to be that colour. Just great, just when Golden Boy had him blacklisted he had to go get gangrene. Brilliant.

After a hasty shower and a quick re-bandage job, Anders decided to take his lie in his own hands and risk going to the labs. If nothing else he might see that MacTaggart or the other medical student whatshisname.

It was always a good bet that whatshisname was in the infirmary. Simon Tam tended to spend most of his life there - if not treating students or studying medicine and genetics, then working on his ability with some of the lab animals. He'd just finished restocking the infirmary's pharmacy, though, when he saw Anders walk in. And, even though the bruises seemed to be healing, he winced with both sympathy at the injuries and disgust at their owner.

"Uh. Can I help you?"

"Maybe, depends I guess. You just study here or do you know, like, do doctor stuff?" Anders asked awkwardly. He knew nothing of the other boy after all and was more than a little cagey about approaching someone new when most of the school popular wanted his guts for garters.

"I'm pre-med. Sort of an unofficial intern with Dr. MacTaggart. Simon Tam," he offered, stepping closer while trying to decide if it was the smartest thing in the world.

"And are you willing to take a look at me, I guess that's the main question right? Or am I the bogeyman to you too?" Anders looked around the now all too familiar lab, injured hand hidden in his pocket for now.

One side of Simon's lips quirked, but he nodded Anders toward one of the exam rooms. "I can take a look. No matter what you've done, you still deserve to be treated for your injuries."

Well, a more rational kid than Golden Boy then, at least there was that.

The Kiwi made his way into the room indicated as he said "No worries I won't show you them all, we'd be here all day. Just needed an opinion on, uh, well." He pulled his hand out the pocket to show the self-done first-aid bandaging. Slowly he started to unwrap it. "Got kinda stabbed, it didn't come out very cleanly and now it's gone a funny colour."

Simon took one look at the inflammation and color, then turned to a nearby sink to start thoroughly washing his hands. "It's infected. Did you see the doctor after you were stabbed?"

"Nope, just washed it and bandaged it. Figured there was not point for a little cut." He shrugged in a 'guess I was wrong' sort of a way. "So, who are you anyway?"

"Simon. Tam," the teen repeated as he dried his hands. "Or Touchstone, if we're going off of codenames. Also, Jean-Paul's roommate, so I advise, for your sake and his that you don't bother trying to use your ability on me. I'd rather not see him expelled. Hop up on the table for me, please."

Comprehension has dawned on his face immediately. Of course Anders had known exactly who Simon Tam was, Jeanne-Marie had told him everything she knew after all, he just hadn't known the face. Considering the past week he'd had, he decided to go for the truth.

"Oh, I know exactly who you are Simon." He admitted as he sat on the table as directed "And don't worry, the thought never even crossed my mind.” He had on the other hand considered a few wisecracks at the choice of codename but decided better. Not before the guy had sorted him out anyway.

Simon blinked at him at the comment, but brought a tray over to the table as he began cleaning the wounds. "This may hurt."

And he really didn't care if it did.

"Because it's meant to or because, AH! Sonofabitch!" Ok, that had hurt more than expected.

"Because it's infected," Simon answered, gently cleaning out the wound, but with a firm hand to keep Anders from moving around too much. "You're lucky it isn't worse than it is, honestly. How did this happen? I thought that you were only beaten."

"Well, yeah. Da Costa and your boyfriend beat me, it was Nathan who stabbed me with a fork. I'd been eating with it before, guess my hand doesn't like bolognese." Anders said pretty matter-of-factly with a half shrug. "Guess I gotta admire the originality of it."

Simon didn't fail to notice that Anders called Jean-Paul his boyfriend. He supposed the whole school really did know. Letting that one pass, he frowned a bit at the information about Nathan. "You were the one that made him do those things. How he acted in the gym, and that post on the journals."

"I did not tell him to do any of that crazy shit. He came up with that himself." He was told adamantly. "But, yeah, I may have done something but he totally deserved it. He was the one who went for me."

"And revenge is always appropriate," Simon muttered dryly. He sprayed a bit more alcohol on the wound, then moved to prepare the bandages.

Grown a little more used to the sting, Anders did little more than wince that time "I was angry, and he wouldn't stop talking shit about me.You can't say you've never gotten your own back on someone when you were angry, surely?"

"I'm not vindictive, if that's what you're asking," Simon murmured, slowly wrapping the other teen's hand with the clean gauze. "Puncture wounds are more susceptible to infection, so you should come back in a couple of days and let Dr. MacTaggart check to make sure it's healing correctly."

"Will do. And for the record I never meant for anything to get as out of hand as it did. Not that I think you'll believe or care." The Kiwi boy shrugged again, Tam could take it or leave it as far as he cared. He wasn't likely to listen anyway if his little boyfriend was any indication.

"Maybe not," Simon answered thoughtfully. "But it did. What you did hurt other people, and whether or not you care about that, the hurt will come right back around to you, eventually." Case in point, the beating.

"Never much gone for that karma stuff before." Was said almost thoughtfully.

"Go for it, don't go for it," Simon answered, securing the bandages. "I should think the well-being of your limbs and facial structure might deter you from interfering with the students here again."

"Yeah, I'd already come to that conclusion myself, funnily enough. Seen way to much of this place." Anders flexed his hand gingerly "So, Doc, tell me: do you think I'm evil like half this place seems to?"

"I think...if you ever did to my sister what you did to Jeanne-Marie...I might do the exact same thing as Jean-Paul," Simon replied carefully. "Evil, though...evil is subjective."

"Yeah, well as you can see I've learnt my lesson." And the lesson was, as Damon had said, cover your tracks better. He gestured to his face and general body. "Did you want to check out the damage your ever so charming beau did by the way? Since I'm here."

Simon's lips curled up on one side. "I already did. I mean, I thought, if you don't have to ask permission to use your powers, then I shouldn't either."

The doctor-to-be lifted a hand in the air. "When I touch people, I scan them, biologically, medically. I saw every contusion. Deep as they are, even those on the bone, nothing is broken. You'll live."

So Josh hadn't been lying when, after the Beaubier beating, he'd claimed to have healed 'Only the concussion and serious shit, you deserve the rest, asshole'.

Anders was far from feeling violated or annoyed if that had been Simon's intent though, he just leant forward in fascination. "Really? You can tell all of that just from touching my hand? That's fucking incredible."

Simon opened his mouth...then closed it, frowning slightly, not sure how to take that.

"What's wrong, Doc? Not used to being complimented? Shame on Frenchie for neglecting you. Or were you hoping to freak me out?" He swung his legs a little as he grinned. "Sorry but I have two mutant brothers and counting so if you think powers being used on me would freak me out, ain't gonna happen. So just enjoy the marvelling at your powers coz you know you want to."

After a moment, Simon seemed to let his brain catch up, and he started to clean up. "I don't need anyone marveling at my abilities. What counts is what I think of myself."

Or so he told himself, anyway. It was easier than being jealous of Foley.

"Funny, in my experience everyone likes hearing they're a badass every once in a while." Was said lightly as the other boy stood and straightened out his clothes.

"And you think a little psychometry is badass?" Simon asked skeptically.

"I think all our powers are impressive, Simon." Anders nodded quite sincerely. "We are all superhuman, we have these amazing gifts and, yeah, we're teenagers and most of us cock up with them constantly but they're still amazing. You can with one touch do in seconds that teams of doctors with bigs old machines take ages to do, right? That's freaking awesome, Doc."

Simon hesitated, knowing that he shouldn't listen to the other teen. On the other hand...it felt...nice to hear such appreciation for what he could do.

When he got no reply, the Kiwi asked "What you don't agree?" when a further silence came, he nodded in understanding "Oh, I get it. You don't want to hear it from scum like me. Well, thanks so much Simon. But, really, thanks for the hand. I'll, uh, see you around I guess."

Simon almost said that he didn't think Anders was scum, but...that wasn't quite true, was it?

"Thank you," he finally murmured, "for the compliment."

Anders nodded "Just a thought. If you're so unused to compliments you have to get them from guys like me, maybe you should rethink your friends." And then he left before Simon could have a chance to have a go at him too.

Anders wants it to be known that he's done nothing wrong (this time) and this is bordering on harassment.

He didn't think he'd done anything wrong last time either. YOUR JUDGEMENT IS IN QUESTION, ANDERS!
