Becky and Illyana | Backdated to 8/22/15

Mutant Thievery Scandal's Social Media Promoter and their self-proclaimed #1 Groupie man the merch table at their first public concert.

(Pietro NPCd by request!)

This was definitely one of the best ideas she'd ever had.

Okay, granted, if it hadn't been for Pietro's help, she and Becky would probably still be frantically making t-shirts rather than selling them. And the profits were going to the band and SHIFT, not to them, though she'd helped herself to a t-shirt out of the pile before they'd set up, just for advertising purposes. She was wearing it, too - a green fitted tee featuring the band's logo. But hey, it had all turned out, at least 75% of the shirts had already sold, and given the size of the crowd, she suspected they might just sell out by the end of the show.

Not at all bad, for one of her schemes. Maybe she should try talking Pietro into selling more of them on SHIFT's website? He'd been around earlier talking to people, but then he'd wandered off somewhere with AJ and Cory. She'd ask when he came back.

"We need to remember to do an inventory of how many of which kind sold, so we can split the money between the band and SHIFT," she pointed out to Becky, who was standing beside her at the table. "Are there any of that print issue of Pietro's left?"

Becky startled from where she'd been trying to convince a semi-cute guy that he should totally change into the Mutant Thievery Scandal shirt he'd just bought right now, right here, in order to show support for the band. Waving him away, she flipped through what was left. "Um, eight. How many did we start with again?" She started thumbing through the band shirts next, reshuffling a few that had been put in the wrong size pile.

"I don't know - it doesn't really matter since we're giving them away. I just wanted to make sure I didn't need to go get more." Illyana grinned and jerked her chin towards the guy who'd just walked away from the table as she followed Becky's lead and started straightening the SHIFT shirts. "Did you talk him into it? Because I would not have objected to seeing him change."

"Nooo," Becky whined. Sorting done - it was easy since there weren't many left - Becky leaned a hip on the table. "First he said that his girlfriend wouldn't approve, then that he liked his current shirt too much... it makes me think that he has a surprising amount of stomach flab or something. Ooo, or a really embarrassing tattoo."

"Possibly both." Illyana grinned. "I mean, that shirt he was wearing? Definitely not form-fitting. Did he buy a shirt at least?"

"Oh yeah," Becky reassured her. "I definitely made sure I had the cash before starting on the flirting. Gotta love a guy who isn't afraid to wear pink." Even if it was... an intense pink.

Illyana wrinkled her nose. "Yeah, we might want to mention that to Jay, huh? At least offer some kind of alternative color? Pink is just..." She shrugged, figuring Becky'd realize what she meant. She liked pink okay, personally. But there were guys who just weren't going to wear it. End of story. She folded one of the t-shirts up and set it on its pile. "The logo wouldn't look bad on black."

Holding out a shirt contemplatively, Becky nodded. "Oh yeah, no, black could work. It would really make the feathers and little notes pop! I'm not sure how the green would look... maybe we could switch some of the colors around. But if we bought in bulk it would be pretty cheap to offer a few different colors, right? Especially since we're handling the labor."

"I'd think so. If we're talking bulk, though, we might want to take a look at one of those places that does the screen printing? It might come out cheaper than doing it ourselves." She wrinkled her nose. "Besides, even with Pietro's help, it took forever."

That was very true, and Becky had started to kind of hate pink and green and blue (and even the simple white and blue of the SHIFT shirts) after a while. "That'd be cool, and maybe we could get a deal if they got advertisement or something through the magazine? I mean, if we did the SHIFT shirts at the same time, too. Really make it a bulk order."

"Oooooh, that's a good idea." Illyana pulled out her phone to make a note to ask Pietro about it later. "I'll talk to Pietro, see what he thinks." She turned her attention back towards the overhang, where MTS was still playing, and grinned. "They're not half bad, hey?"

Becky leaned back on her hands with a pleased grin. "Not bad at all! Did I tell you that Lydia gave me some pointers on how to promote them online? They actually have a little following, now!" Even people who weren't family members!

"Did you tell Jay?" Illyana cocked her head, eyed the table critically, then grinned and started pushing the t-shirts they'd just sorted to the sides.

"The basics, yeah, but he's really hopeless with social media stuff. He didn't even know what a vine was!" Becky squinted at the other girl while she destroyed all of their organization. "What're you doing?"

Illyana grinned, climbed up on the now empty center of the table, and reached down to pull Becky up. "Dancing! I like this song." Ok, granted, she'd rather have 'ported up to where the band was and danced there, but the tabletop would do. Who knew, maybe it'd attract the attention of some of the people who hadn't yet bought a t-shirt. It couldn't hurt.

Squawking as she was pulled up, Becky stabilized herself against Illyana. "Well, okay, but if I fall off and break a leg, you have to take me immediately to Simon, okay?" She didn't care if he'd just send her to a hospital - she wanted to stare into his gorgeous eyes as they filled with concern for her.

"Deal." Illyana grinned, imagining that pained look Simon got when Becky was mentioned, then let go of the other girl's hand and started dancing.
